All manner of excretions are hitting fans at the Construct 3 forum, best prepare yourselves for some mutionous ship jumping over to Fusion 3 :o
Might have some Fusion 3 converts this year...
Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.
A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.
Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

I was thinking the same thing when I saw Construct 3's announcement. There were a lot of complaints about C2's HTML5 only nature going into this (A key reason I jumped to Fusion last year) and unless I missed something they seem to have not listened at all to the criticisms. Now it's operating out of a browser (Online or off) for a yearly subscription. It doesn't feel like they're a competitor to Clickteam anymore. They feel more like Stencyl now. Oh, and longtime members getting half off, while people buying C2 at the last second get it completely free for the first year is probably going to rub a lot of people the wrong way.
What I have seen of Fusion 3 on the other hand is the exact direction I was hoping it would take and reaffirms that I have made the right decision... so long as they keep the Event List Editor and don't make me use checkboxes
-
I guess CT can rest assured they're still the leaders in the field then.
-
CT is doing things right and Scirra is repelling users with their business decisions. It seems like we have found the winner of this battle.
Keep up the good work ClickTeam
-
Yeah! You can't beat the original
-
CT, I beg. Don't go subscription. Please.
-
I know Construct is a pretty widely liked product. I took a peek at their forums when I read this. I really hate to see the users so disappointed with what Construct 3 seems to be shaping up to. Seems like Scirra is out of touch and hasn't listened to their user base as I know the HTML5 export was a HUGE criticism of C2. At least we can count on Clickteam for doing the right thing.
-
CT, I beg. Don't go subscription. Please.
I could be remembering wrong, but I do believe they mentioned at some point it would be a one-time payment. I hope it stays that way. Subscription based software is like a plague to creativity. Unfortunately it's a model a lot of companies are starting to try because it consistently gets them revenue. That's probably why Scirra went this route.
-
If we can get a firm confirmation from Clickteam ( Simon perhaps?) what the licensing model of fusion 3 would be - and if that in fact is going to be similar to what fusion 2.5 had - if that happens right now when Scirra is burning it's bridges -I can guarantee you that most of the angry users over there are almost certainly going to jump ship to clickteam and will probably impulse buy a fusion 3 license if that was offered to them as preorder!
Just the license alone not being a yearly subscription would be enough to steal like 80% of their userbase XD
This is the moment Scirra is at their weakest, their users - even the most loyal ones are starting to turn head to other game engines -
F3 will not be subscription based.

THANK YOU!
I will continue to gladly support clickteam by buying any major version upgrades (like it was with mmf2 to fusion 2.5) ,exporters and premium plugins.
The very fact that I can still open a fusion 2 project from several years ago without requiring any internet connection speaks volumes of how reliable Clickteam is compared to Scirra.I am going to list the points that give Fusion3 an advantage over buying Construct3:
- Fusion 3 has a powerful visual programming event sheet - no prior programming knowledge required, it is an improvement over the old one and a complete rewrite. Meanwhile Construct3 is just the old construct2 event sheet running inside a web browser
Fusion 3's event sheet has addressed limitations of 2.5's event sheet and is now on par with cosntruct's - if not even better:
Please login to see this link.
Please login to see this picture.
Furthermore reusal of code and eventsheets has been greatly improved and is now on par or even greater than construct's
Please login to see this link.- Fusion 3 addresses all the cons and limitations fusion 2.5 had - the limitations that gave construct 2 an advantage are no longer there! it's built from scratch with a better design and is very powerful
- Fusion 3 editor will work natively on windows, linux and mac - all major platforms!
Construct3's editor is written in html5 and runs inside a web browser.
This means that funsion 3's editor will run faster and be able to handle memory better than consrtuct
Please login to see this link.- Fusion 3 does not require subscription fees - you pay once for license, you own the software for life (*upgrade fees might apply for major releases)
Construct 3 requires a rental payment of 99$ per year. If you stop paying that, you can no longer edit your game projects- cant use the editor on files that have more than 100 events. Construct 3 project files can not be opened in construct 2- once you start paying in the subscription model, you are locked to it - all of your construct3 made projects are locked to the subscription fees license model.- Fusion 3 has easy native exporters- that are reliable for all major platforms (windows,linux,mac,ios,android...) - The games are compiled with pure native performance and a small footprint!.
Construct 3 still exports games only to html5 and bundles the games with a glorified web browser - meaning a 2mb game gets exported to a 52 mb android apk or an 82 mb windows executable. The bundled html games perform more poorly and unpredictably than the time you playtest them on a localhost. As a result a lot of construct2 made html5 games have been rejected from the app store in the past - just google scirra's forum - it's full of unhappy devs- Fusion 3 exporters do not require any third party services such as xdk or node.js - for porting of the games.
- Fusion 3 games are native and will not break due to things like web browser updates
- Fusion 3 does not require you to be connected to the internet in order to use it, does not require you to upload your game to the cloud in order to export it or login with an account every time you start it. On construct3 you can't export your game to any platform unless you are connected to the internet and their server is online
- Fusion 3 is very extendable, you can create plugins with the event sheet alone
- Fusion 3 saves project files as simple editable json text files that can be edited externally and that makes it better suited for team projects and github version control. construct 3 saves binary blobs that can not be edited externally and are difficult for tracking changes.
Please login to see this link.- Clickteam - fusion 3's creators are the original inventor of visual event sheet programming
Please login to see this link.and their products have a huge back catalog of successful 2d games - much more than construct's dev scene ever had!
Please login to see this link.Looking back in history, prior to founding Scirra - Construct's main developer Ashley used to be a mmf user, who copied a lot of his design ideas from clickteam in order to create Construct

I'm finally making the switch from C2 to Fusion. I'm not happy with the news of Construct 3. I feel like they've been ignoring us for years and the subscription announcement was the last straw. Can someone direct me to the best place to start learning to use Fusion 2.5?
-
Nimbus9 there might be some quirky things with fusion 2.5 if you have used to use Construct 2, but Fusion 3 will fix those "issues". I'm really sure that you won't regret your decision. Construct 3 is essentially just a face lift and the engine underneath is the same. But Fusion 3 is a whole new beast, build from the ground up. With Fusion you can be a serious developer, and with Construct it's more like html5 hobby.

While it isn't going be directly backwards compatible, I do believe f3 will have an importer for old fusion projects that would mostly bring your project and assets across.

Hi Blurymind - fancy meeting you here!
Yup, I am another Construct 2 user quite disappointed with Scirra. Fusion 3 is probably the way to go for me (depending on a visual timeline and/or Spriter IK animation-type like support).
@Clickteam: be sure to offer a cross-grade to Construct 2 owners when Fusion 3 is released. I feel a bit like I am betraying Scirra by proposing this, but they made their own bed by going rental-only out of the blue. I absolutely refuse to rent my software - when Adobe switched to the digital serfdom business model, I erased Adobe software out of my workflow. And I had been working professionally with Adobe Photoshop since version 3!

Hi Rayek, I think there was talk on this forum that Fusion 3 will have support for Spriter built in, but right now you can actually download and use a free spriter runtime plugin for fusion 2.5:
Please login to see this link.I dont think Clickteam would offer a discount to current construct2 users, but they may offer a discount on preorders to current fusion users in the near feature - so please stay tuned . They have announced that the licensing will NOT be subscription based and are revealing new features of fusion 3 (coming out this year) on a weekly basis at the development blog:
Please login to see this link.
Unlike Scirra, Clickteam demonstrates the value of a product prior to revealing it's price. That is in my opinion a much smarter way to approach your community and keep it happy. The moment they open that preorder page, people deciding between renting construct 3 for a year or buying fusion 3 will flood clickteam's server.Construct 3 will be released in April btw, so it would be a good move for clickteam to put out the preorder offer a little bit before their release :p
Or they could do it like Yoyo games did with the new game maker - put out a limited number of beta access licenses at a discounted price. They also sweetened the deal by slashing more of the price for users who want to upgrade from an older version.
In any case, any deal would be way better than scirra's current offering

Thanks! I haven't found any quirky things with Fusion 2.5 yet, and I'm already liking it more than C2. So, I'm definitely looking forward to Fusion 3!
