I am working on a game and have a music .mp3 which I am using through the DirectShow object. However, when I attempt to make a build of the game, the music does not stay with the build. In addition, the free-to-use Pop01 and Pop04 sounds from the chocobreak game do not function from the build. On my computer it works, but when I bring it to another computer, there is no sound. I would eventually like to market it. How do I make it so the music properly functions on other computers?
How do I have music be part of the build?
Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.
A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.
Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

Where is the mp3 file located? It must be missing on the other computer.
-
Where should it be located? Should I put them in a folder and send a .zip of the folder? Will that work?
-
Sending a folder with both doesn't work. Do I have to reroute the directory or something?
-
It doesn't work on other computers
-
Make sure the path is correct.
Anyways, why are you using the DirectShow object? You can just use the built-in Please login to see this link., which embeds the file in the app IIRC, and is also multi-platform.
-
I am using the DirectShow object because I only have a MP3, no .midi . If I had a midi it would be a lot easier. Can MP3s be used with the built in sound object?
-
Yes, you use the Sample actions and commands.
In the built-in Sound object, Music is MIDI, and Samples is all other audio files (but who knows why).
-
Just an FYI, you have a limited amount of uses for an .MP3 before the company that made it want you to pay money as it is a commercial format, if you are marketing your gamer it would be safer to go with a free format like .ogg.
-
Actually, tophat, the MP3 patents expired fairly recently IIRC. You should probably double-check to be sure, mind you, but that's what I recall.
-
Yeah, MP3 licensing has ended and you don't have to pay anything anymore.
