what happened to Fusion 3?

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • I am just wondering if it will be worth waiting for it, or just start with firefly now and see where it will bring me. As i want to create a 3D Game, and i doubt that firefly will be available for fusion 3 any time soon after release.

  • If 3D is your goal, don't wait for Fusion 3, as it wont have support for much 3D content at launch (or probably anytime soon). It seems the reception of Firefly was pretty poor, even though a loud minority had been screaming about wanting it for a long time. This doesn't make it an attractive thing to spend time on for Clicktema, especially with all the work ahead of them on Fusion 3. It isn't like Fusion 2.5 is going away for a few years anyway, so you have a very solid platform to work with.

  • Can we assume F3 is dead? and they continue to support 2.5? can't find any info about it.

No, currently paused cause Clickteam need to focus on console export, Yves said develop would restart “this autumn“, and no new news before 2020.

IIRC Clickteam promised to support 2.5 as long as possible even after the release of 3.

  • Clickteam have been dangerously quiet about Fusion 3. Kind of digging their own grave really.. Sorry.

They specifically said they had to pause the project until this fall and that they wouldn't be talking about it until 2020. They've also said it's far enough away that nobody should be pausing projects hoping to start them in F3. I don't think there is anything dangerous about that level of communication. They've been pretty clear about the delays and not wanting to talk about it again until they have concrete plans to show, and they've been clear not to expect info any time soon.

  • And it's not like they've gone quiet in general. Quite the opposite: they're very active with regular updates and frequent forum presence from lead developers. So it's clear that they're working hard, and constantly moving forward. And as long as they're alive and well and moving forward, surely Fusion 3 is inevitable (albeit probably still very far away, and possibly in hibernation for a while, as mentioned above)
