Full screen mode stopping dialogue boxes from showing up!

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Please help. I'm nearly done making a Windows exe game, but there's a terrible issue which effects any dialogue box type thing generated by Fusion extewnsions in the game. The high score object's pop-up to ask for the player to enter the name is not showing up, the dialogue box objects dialogue boxes are not appearing, and even the editbox text window are not showing up. This only happens in full screen mode.. if I leave the game windowed everything shows up fine!

Has anyone else run into this? Any know solutions?

All of my PC's I can test on are running windows 10.

  • Yes, as mihailsh says, it is DirectX9 - if that is enabled then the dialogue boxes don't work in full screen mode. If you don't need it then use Windows Standard Mode instead and everything will work fine.

My solution or work-around is to switch the game into window mode for input and then to switch it back thereafter - I also do this when pausing the game as there are full-screen issues with the game being paused as well in DirectX9.

And I also get the player to type in their name and then save that at the start of the game before I give them the option to switch to full screen mode.

Other people's solutions were to write their own input and dialogue boxes.

  • Yikes. I'll have to make a custom name entry system and tie it into the scoreboard object... all those work-arounds are sub-optimal to say the least in the case of my game. I definitely need DX9 because I use lots of HWA and effects.
Thanks very much for the info.
