Fusion3 & 2.5 Console Conversion Service

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • With 2018 we have reached an exciting new milestone in the development of Fusion 3. Built around a core library named “Nucleus" which powers Fusion 3 games and apps, the guys have reached a new stage with the core engine. Thanks to the efforts of the Fusion 3 team’s work on the Fusion 3 engine and the frankly awesome importing tool we are now at a stage where we're able to start converting Fusion 2.5 titles as a paid-for service, to consoles like Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

The process behind this wizardry starts with a Fusion 2.5 MFA. Our optimization team runs through this with a fine tooth comb, looking for ways to improve the eventing and eliminate anything not needed. This ensures that the MFA going into the porting tool is as clean as possible. Once we have converted the MFA to a Fusion 3 source file it is then handed over to our new Console Development Team who take the Fusion 3 file and run it through the F3 build system. This generates the appropriate code for the target platform which can then be compiled and run on the target console test device. Any issues or opportunities for improvement are then passed on to the Fusion 3 development team who then tweak the relevant area/functionality of “Nucleus”.

This is a very exciting step for Fusion 3. The ability to port to consoles easily has been a bucket list item for us and many of our users for a long time. This step will ensure that when Fusion 3 is released the ability to port will be as solid as it possibly can be, having been manually tested and tuned on real-world projects. When Fusion 3 releases we will work to provide an out-of-the-box exporter solution in addition to the paid conversion service, to fit the needs as of many users as possible.

  • We have a separate publishing arm and they both work independently.

This service is intended for those whom want to convert there Fusion 2.5 and future Fusion3 projects to console, have them full tested and ready for QA. We certainly will use this capacity for titles that we publish ourselves. But this is open to anyone looking to make that leap.

Is Ye Fenny something you would consider publishing?

  • We are indeed still exploring a Switch Exporter for 2.5.

It's worth noting that I am unable to offer the conversion service or sell a Switch Exporter to just anyone. You must be a approved Nintendo Developer and request the service and later the exporter through Nintendo via our Development Tools listing in their development portal.

  • These are great news for us and for Clickteam :O

From what I know, except Unity and Unreal 4, there is no other consumer-grade game engine that exports directly to Nintendo Switch. This will be a great advantage for Fusion 3.

  • So, assuming a project has 20,000 events - are you still going to fine tooth comb it? What if it runs fine despite so many lines (that are mostly always inactive) very exciting news!

Also - will this service be offered indefinitely (at least as far as you can see?)

If you port to for instance Switch, how much additional work to port to PS4/Xbone?

  • DaveC indeed yes, we will fine tooth comb it no matter the state its in. Due diligence to make sure we have the cleanest fastest version possible before porting. Part of the service.

  • Excellent news Chris and congratulations to Team Developer Clickteam.

If the service is not super expensive I find it up to better option than us being doing it on our own. We can focus on finishing our games and using the CT service. I think it's a genius...

Just out of curiosity, the smallest game that can cost?, I say a small production, a platform of 5 levels for example.

  • If a extension is not currently part of the conversion process we evaluate its function and A. see if it can reprogrammed using existing conversion objects, if not B. We will convert the object as well.
