Fusion3 & 2.5 Console Conversion Service

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

Clickteam.
  • Here's a question:

I don't really know what the capabilities of your Switch/console conversions are, but I have a small puzzle platformer that I was planning to release with a level builder after I finish my current project for PC. If I were to submit my project to Clickteam, and you all liked it, would it be possible to have an online level sharing feature in a Switch game? This is something I can use Steam Workshop for on PC, but I don't have any idea how I'd go about sharing created levels on the Switch.

  • CuddlyGoose in order to do that, you will need an online server of some description with which to communicate. This is potentially something Clickteam could provide, although there would be associated ongoing costs for any such service. Nintendo may offer some form of cloud data API to devs, I'm not sure on that score. Kisguri perhaps you could speak to CuddlyGoose about this one...

Thanks for the quick reply Simon. It wouldn't necessarily be needed, as I can always just release a version on Switch with more levels pre-packaged, after a mobile/PC release, but it is something I'd be interested in knowing more about given we may never have the option to directly use a Switch exporter and understand all of the things that are possible and not.

  • Thanks, Kisguri I will definitely do that when it is closer to a time where it would be worth discussing in more detail. I was just interested in planning for future possibility. I'll probably focus on PC and mobile releases for now, but I am happy to know it is something that can at least be discussed in the future.

  • Hey CuddlyGoose, look into Please login to see this link.. It's a mod/content sharing website for developers, similar to Steam Workshop, but with an open API/SDK. At the very least, users can upload/download content directly on the website, though they have asked me about making a Fusion extension.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll keep this in mind.

  • A big question here is, what if, like most games, DirectX effects are used? Does your service involve porting these over to, say, OpenGL? Have you come across any projects that simply could not be ported to Switch or PS4? I see many Fusion games being released on Switch, so I'm guessing not.

  • - Do you just convert the project to the console? Or do you even publish to the store?(I need find a publisher?)

    We can publish too.

    - Are there any limitations on the Editors when converting projects?(Objects, Shaders, Events)

Shaders are converted to GLSL, PSSL. Objects are converted when required, if possible, though some of them like Windows native controls are not ported and have to be replaced if you use them (the ListBox object is ported and handles lists but is not visible).

Yes, a huge game with tons of 3rd party extensions. The reason was mainly lack of time, there was a huge work just to make a simple evaluation and this didn't fit in our schedule.

  • Hey, this is something devs of fusion 3 may consider. Other engines have Tileset (Tilemap) support which I think is great feature. Did you ever consider something like that for Fusion 3 ??

Edited once, last by Simon: Removed names of other engines. (June 18, 2020 at 3:11 PM).

Out of topic, this thread is about our console conversion service, not about F3 features. PS: there are Tilemap objects for Fusion made by Looki, not sure if this what you mean.

  • why does it even have fusion 3 in the title? F3 hasnt been released yet, so nobody is really making games with it - to be converted to consoles.

  • Partly because we're using F3 tech (did you actually read the OP?) to port the games, but also because this thread will also be live for when Fusion 3 has launched and if we change the URL later it causes SEO headaches...

I'm not sure why it matters either way to an end user?
