Fusion 3 Progress Thread

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

Clickteam.
  • I have restarted the Fusion 3 thread and we have removed the old one. There were many valuable and outstanding comments in its extremely long history. We garnered many ideas and suggestions. And for that we thank you. However that last thread truly devolved out of usefulness. Hence this new one. One overriding subject in that thread that repeats, is Clickteam needs to a better job of communicating progress and company objectives. That is no secret to us and it something we are working on. We have hired two new programmers to bolster Fusion 3 development and applied more resources. So I hope to provide you more regular input.

Here is a new small blog post for you today: Please login to see this link.

As we move forward this thread will be heavily moderated. Here are the extra guidelines...

    • Please don't ask us about a release date or what stage we're at, when we safely can post such details we will.
    • We would ask that all users remain polite and courteous towards other users, moderators and staff at all times.
    • Please search the thread for previous answers before posting.
    • Please refrain from discussing competitor products here.
    • Please do not discuss non F3 related items, we will remove any posted to keep the thread on track.

Please note that we cannot guarantee that any posts for feature requests will be read here, nor that we will be able to include them in Fusion 3 at this late stage. Unless something is posted here or confirmed by a Clickteam staff member, please treat it as speculation.

  • Great, nice to see some Fusion 3 update and a new thread.

Will the event list editor be part of the event editor so you can tell which action is being processed and in what order?

For example in the above example will "Set Speed to 3" be first or second to execute? You cannot tell from the display itself. Will more clicks be need to find out? This could be VERY time consuming for the Fusion 3 programmer and hard to troubleshoot logic errors.

As I understand there was a movement to remove the event list editor in Fusion 3, but I found the event editor alone did not meet troubleshooting needs by itself.

  • Whole post about why new thread and what to do not write. Why you just dont say what you got? I read blog post. Really f3 started to works on windows last time after that your new programmer made it? I thought it works for minimum half year if you planned release it in 2017. Anyway will mobiles supports a new ios and android features or standard like it was in f2.5?

  • I was wondering what happened to the old thread, but I agree about its usefulness. I look forward to (hopefully) more frequent updates, and appreciate even little ones like this. I'm wrapping up development for my third (and largest) commercial fusion project at the end of this summer/start of fall, and I hope around then we have a better understanding of what to expect from Fusion 3, and when to expect it (I'm not asking now, I promise). Best of luck to the dev team.

P.S. You've listed things we shouldn't talk about/do, but what are some things that might be beneficial to discuss between community and the development team?

  • CuddlyGoose, good idea on a list of suggestions to talk about, I will craft them and append the list!

  • I assume that there's a way to make all events display in List View, without the user needing to click on each row one-by-one as in the above gif.

Assuming that, I'd like to know how/whether filtering will work in the List View - ie. what happens in List View when you click on an item in the top row. A user in the old thread posted an excellent animated mockup of it would work that, to my mind, was the best solution I've seen proposed yet. If I remember correctly, it included a text field where the user could begin typing the name of objects, while the rows below filtered themselves accordingly as she typed.

  • I can tell you Volnaiskra we will have a button that will switch all events to list. Because I specifically made sure to request it, cause list view is absolutely necessary!

  • It's nice to hear a heartbeat from F3 and the blog again. Also glad to see LB came to the rescue! Who is the other new programmer btw? Anyone we know from the community as well? Looking forward to more updates.

  • Will the event list editor be part of the event editor so you can tell which action is being processed and in what order?

Yep, you can bet such an essential feature wouldn't be forgotten. It's just not shown here because we wanted to show that you can do it for individual events instead of all-or-nothing.

For example in the above example will "Set Speed to 3" be first or second to execute? You cannot tell from the display itself. Will more clicks be need to find out?

It will work the same as Fusion 2.5: execution is top to bottom. The gif above is just a demo of the sub-events feature with one action per event. Events 2 and 3 will only run if event 1 runs, so it first sets the speed to 3 while holding right arrow, then if you are also holding shift it sets the speed to 6 instead. The change of position happens before either of those, so you may want to move it to another "Always" sub-event after both events that set the movement speed.

Working as fast as I can on Fusion 3

  • I'd just like to point out that 99% of what we've said here has already been said previously and yet lots of you are thanking us for the updates... I mention this to explain part of why we wanted the new thread, as the old one had just become too cluttered. Please everyone do your best to keep it 100% on topic and useful for everyone :)

  • Whilst we have indeed hired some new staff recently, they have only taken on roles for F3 which existing developers were already handling previously and the common C++ code base is something which has been detailed (including by myself) in quite some detail previously, so this is nothing new. Again I'm saying this to highlight one of the reasons for removing the old thread but I guess also to highlight that we have actually given out a lot of information already but users were not managing to find it.

  • Simon since 99% of what has been said is already what has been said could you provide us an update or list of new stuff on Fusion 3?

For example will Fusion 3 have a more powerful extension manager so you could simple say "update all extensions that need to be updated" instead of having to do them one by one?

Or what about printing forms and reports. Will Fusion 3 have corrected this since it is not possible with the current Print and Print Control extensions. For example controlling headers, footers, margins was limited.

    Well you get the idea.

  • We can look at a list, but it does open the risk that if features have to change or be delayed, some users will bash us over the head with it (based on past and recent experience)

In the meantime you can check this out: Please login to see this link.

  • Seeing as we have a new F3 thread, I'd like to elaborate a little on a post I made in the old one, I really think it would be great if F3 allowed us to assign multiple hit/collision shapes for each frame of an animation inside the animation editor, like the mockup below shows:

Please login to see this attachment.

It would save us having to tether multiple objects together and we wouldn't need to worry about foreach/fastloops to pair multiple instances to their respective collision shapes, etc, which I think would help to keep everything tidier. I'm not a Fusion expert but I can't think of any real downsides to this functionality, I assume for most peoples needs this would speed up development as well as making things a little simpler for newcomers. Anyway, it's just an idea, and as F3 is probably pretty late in development, I get that it might not be feasible to add all the functionality people request, but I think it'd be pretty cool if we had the option to work in this way. :)

Anyway, good luck Clickteam, you have my support, and I will buy F3 whenever it arrives, my body is ready ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
