Fusion 3 Progress Thread

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • I don’t mind dated, but I do wish the UI has a few more modern windows touches like being able to ctrl select multiple conditions/actions in the ELE, proper page up/down scrolling and sorting items in folders (without the item getting kicked out of the folder). It would also be nice to be able to expand all sub groups of a specific group, rather than expanding absolutely every group in the frame.

These are more quality of life upgrades, but I don’t know if they are possible in 2.5 anymore. As for outdated, I thought the only old tech involved unloading some cpu tasks to the gpu. But maybe I am incorrect?

  • We are most likely not going to release a Switch exporter due to various complexities places on the process by Nintendo (same can be said for other exporters)

Does this mean it's unlikely there'll be any console exporters at all for F3? If that's the case, I can't deny I'd find it kinda disappointing (just being honest), especially after the blog post that strongly implied console exporters were on the cards. I understand things can change over time, still, after reading that blog post, the possibility of console export was something I was really excited about..

  • To clarify Console exporters are still on the table, Including a Switch exporter for 2.5, however they just won't be for sale like the other exporters (especially the switch exporters due to Nintendo's NDA requirements) but available as part of our professional services division.

  • The conversion service I'm sure is great, but honestly, I was really interested in the out-of-the-box option that was mentioned in the blog post, if Clickteam can't offer that, it's not the end of the world, just something I was looking forward to is all.

  • When I said they won't be for sale like the other exporters, I meant you can't just simply log in and buy it. You have to contact professional services first. The reason for this is exemplified with the Switch. I can't even discuss anything about the exporter in detail with a user till I have verified through Nintendo that you have executed a NDA with them and are registered as a Nintendo Developer. Hurdles like these will make console export options have a few barriers. In our example once confirmed we would provide you with your options and there costs.

  • It probably should be said that companies like Apple and Google (and Microsoft to an extent) made their hardware much more open and easily accessible to the average person wanting to be a developer. Console manufacturers run much more closed systems because they don't want to make it easy for just anyone to make content for their hardware.

  • I know you have to be registered as a developer with Sony/MS/Nintendo to buy an exporter as there are other engines were that's also a prerequisite before you're permitted to buy the exporter, but they do allow you to buy out-of-the-box console exporters that are yours to use freely as long as you meet said criteria, which is what I thought the blog post suggested you guys would be offering, in addition to the Clickteam paid-for service, like I say, if it's no longer on the cards, I understand, just got my hopes up, that's all.

  • I mean, it doesn't seem to be an issue for other engines that do offer these exporters, but anyway, I don't wanna cause a big fuss about it, you guys have to do what you believe is best for business, and of course, I understand that, and either way, I'm still looking forward to F3.

(P.S. I hope you guys know that my comments have no animosity in them, I love Clickteam and know you guys work hard to produce the best products possible, seriously, you have my support, but I just feel I have to speak honestly when stuff like this comes up.)

Edit: (I think the post I was replying to has since been deleted, I'm not just spamming the thread xD)

  • It is kind of hard to comment on something that was last demonstrated in a video in 2016 :D give us something new to comment about. I feel that this thread has been beaten to death with the same questions and answers. You need to do something to shake things up and get people to talk about F3

  • Our advice is to carry on using the more than capable features of Fusion 2.5 and when Fusion 3 announcements / release dates are ready, we'll announce them - until then, there's not a lot more to really say at this point. We've already relayed a tonne of information too early (largely due to user pressure) and now it seems like a massive gap as a result, we've released all we really can at this stage.

  • Ok, so i'm making a game. Making prototype, then remaking it ,and again and again to improve systems. I am planning to end my game for ~1year. I have few questions,
-Event editor will be close same like this in CF2.5? (For Example Always event will be Always event, and placed in same place?).
-Fusion 3 will be upgraded version of CF 2.5, or it will look close to similar tools (You can make everything like now in CF2.5, but you can also add a "pages" with code?)?
    - What about Alterable Values of single objects? They will be limited, like now or finally unlimited (same with strings)?
-What with multiplayer? We will still need to use Lacewing, or there will be some built-in apps allowed to make multiplayer?
-Will be there something like in gamemaker, tool used to make particle effects or something like that?
-Will be there something like Bone animation event/object or sth?

  • Will Fusion 3 support better printing control so better reports can be generated and printed?

Will a user be able to draw a simple box, oval, or line with arrows or dashed line with arrows ect…? In other words will a user be able to create program flowcharts similar to visio. This would be great for program documentation and help.

  • Our advice is to carry on using the more than capable features of Fusion 2.5

I hope this comment is relevant to Fusion 3 because it's literally the reason I'm waiting until Fusion 3 to begin my next big project. While Fusion 2.5 is incredibly capable and has a powerful engine, support for various objects on cross-platform runtimes is spotty. For example right now using a gamepad is not possible on Mac, that alone deters me from beginning my project on Fusion 2.5. I'm totally sympathetic to the technical complexities involved so this is not a complaint about Fusion 2.5, rather it is an expression of my enthusiasm for the approach that Fusion 3 takes. There will obviously still be extensions that are platform specific but I'm hopeful that the basics will be covered on different OS's and porting extensions will be a simpler process.

  • Totally on point Christian,
I really hope Fusion 2.5 to 3 Project Converter will be good and everything is mostly ported. As Clickteam encourages people to stick with 2.5 for the meantime.
Wish they could market it like this: "Continue Making even bigger projects with F2.5, we have a very good ProjectConverter when Fusion3 comes out" (or "full backwards compatibility" X) )
I understand it's hard to pull off since f3 is from ground up with better logic, but we dont know how good the Converter has gotten since it has been mentioned way back, and it's likely being further developed since it's used in exporting to newer console if I'm not mistaken. Maybe an updated blogpost/confirmation

  • We have repeatedly spoken about the converter and told people to start their projects in F25 and bring them in to F3 when the time comes. We've said it so often that I'm not going to get into it here, instead I'll encourage you all to look in this thread and the blogs.

  • I for one am happily (oh so slowly) working on my current big project in 2.5.. If I can't bring it into F3 I'll deal with it, hopefully.. with either CT's porting service or other means...

My 2 cents.. CT seem to be almost "angry" at anyone who asks a question - if for example, I got those kind of 'angry' responses at a restaurant I'd just leave X(

Clickers are probably anxious with all the unknowns of F2.5>F3 converter... my game heavily relies on an elaborate use of Arrays and specific functions that will break everything if they're not all supported together etc. so maybe CT can't yet tell us exactly what will be supported, but as long as we don't know, people will probably feel reluctant.
