And just when we thought everything was Ok and running smooth, European Community comes and …
I will review this next week
Sorry. After getting 100's of e-mails about new rules, new signups, new subscribe's etc etc.. Guess this can be added to the list.
No quite sure how it will work for the Ads, but almost sounded like you can decline getting ads, which would be bad..
Hope it's an auto thing that admob does, cause there will be millions of apps that needs to be updated, which seems unlikely..
no is not that easy
you must show a consent form and according to this, you need to specify the allowed ads, in mediation you need to instruct some provider, and in local need to check the condition, so to say a lot of work
From what I've read, a temporary solution to be compliant with these rules for admob is to provide non-personalized ads instead of personalized ads. This would no longer require consent from a user, because the ads would no longer be using their personal information. However, I can't seem to find how to make the admob ads non-personalized. Do you have any idea if this is something that needs to be done in the clickteam code, or if it's something that we developers can do, from our own end?
I also have another question, regarding these GDPR rules. The Google Play Games extension from Clickteam that I'm currently using seems to be asking users for a lot of anonymous information for analytics purposes, such as their age group, their language, their location, etc, and it looks like it's asking these information from their Google+ account. I've also been told by some users that they couldn't use the Google Play Games in my game because they didn't have a Google+ account. Is there any way to remove these analytics altogether, so that I avoid asking for these permissions? It's not like I need any of them. Or maybe I'm just using an older version of the Google Play Games extension and this all gets resolved in a newer version?
Actually never mind what I just said about the non-personalized ads. I just checked what Google has to say on the matter, and apparently even with non-personalized ads, you still require the consent of the users if you want to run ads. This sounds like the alternative of making adblock the default option for mobile, unless you specifically opt in to see ads. According to this link: Please login to see this link. it says that:
Although non-personalized ads don’t use cookies or mobile ad identifiers for ad targeting, they do still use cookies or mobile ad identifiers for frequency capping, aggregated ad reporting, and to combat fraud and abuse. Therefore, you must obtain consent to use cookies or mobile ad identifiers for those purposes where legally required, per the ePrivacy Directive in certain EEA countries.
So ads are pretty much dead, unless Google makes some ads that would not require any consent from users. I would still like to know if there's any way I can avoid asking users for those Google+ permissions for the Google Play Games extension, though.
Well, that's the thing... I don't get any questions in any other App, that uses whatever Ad provider..
If they are required, think about the millions of apps that needs to be updated/resubmitted.. this will be a complete nightmare for everyone.
Maybe that's why you need to put something in your policy file that you need to submit with google and most other ones about this.
This is the only think that makes the most sense.
The problem is that european law no longer considers privacy policies to be enough for giving consent. They now want explicit consent, telling you very clearly, without any legalese, just what data is being taken, exactly, and how it is being used. The law also states that you can't deny people access to your app just because they don't agree to these terms. So, basically, what they're saying is, if users don't want ads, you are obligated by european law to give them your app for free. At least that's most people's takeaway from this. The guys in r/androiddev seem really stressed out about these laws.
Ironically, the big companies seem the least stressed out, and they're just asking people to 'read their privacy policy', but I don't think this is going to fly, in european court. There's already news about Google, Facebook and Whatsapp being sued for 8 billion dollars due to these laws, so there's a lot of room for extortion. For now, what I did is that I set very high ecpm floors from the admob dashboard for all european countries (1000 dollars ecpm floor for each one), which should prevent all ads from showing up in europe. Hopefully, this would solve that problem, until we'll get a clearer idea of what exactly the european union wants to do with these laws.
wow.. this could kill off all the small companies / 1 person / etc for releasing "free" apps. then they almost should go to paid apps. or stop selling apps in Europe.
70% of my revenue is from Europe. Then I might as well stop creating games, which is not an option..
Guess w'll see how it's going to turn out then
I've just updated the Android game "Golf Clash" and when you go into it now you get a small box on screen saying "We have updated our terms of service and privacy policy. By tapping 'OK' I agree to the Terms of Service and I acknowledge the Privacy Policy"
"Terms of Service" and "Privacy Policy" are links which go to the companies info about each subject.
EDIT: Hill Climb Racer 2 also does exactly the same on startup now.
Subway Surf: Does this slightly differently. On startup it now asks you to consent to ads. There is an "I accept" tick box to tick. However, if you don't select it you can't go any further into the game. The small print at the bottom of the dialog box also says that you can withdraw consent from the Settings menu. When I do that it basically shows the Consent dialog box again and won't let me play the game unless I Agree !!!!!
I noticed it with some of them, so it's most likely on their site .. I think it's like 3 answers you can give. so you will not be without ads.
wats this nonsense! D:<
they better not be trying to block my ad revenue! ....i rely heavily on my £0.05 a day earnings! XD
I just uploaded with API 27, and when I tested it locally on my phone, I did not get a warning.
Unless maybe when it's live?
The warning message I've seen about this is when I've been on my Admob Console
side part those that have ironsource & AdMob
[h=2]What will happen on May 25th?[/h]
As of today, there is a rigorous debate in the industry regarding the most compliant way to collect, store and transmit user consent. On the effective date of GDPR, publishers working with us will have two options available:
For those of you who don’t want to collect consent yet, the ironSource solution – both the network and the mediation platform – is already built to ensure compliance with the GDPR.
On the network level, ironSource will serve your users who are subject to GDPR with ads that are non-personalized
On the mediation level, ironSource is working closely with all the networks to confirm that they too have the technical solution to address serving your users who are subject to GDPR with ads that are not personalized if no consent was provided. Nonetheless, we advise every publisher to reach out to their other networks to receive additional legal assurance
THIS IS TEH CORRECT BEHAVIOR NOT TO ASK FOR PERSONALISED ADS DOING THIS WILL MAKE YOU NOT TO REQUEST FOR CONSENT, BUT AGAIN YOU MUST FROM OW ON HAVE A POLICYURL WITH THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, IN ADMOB THERE IS ALSO A SETTING TO MAKE ALL ADS NOT TO BE PERSONALIZED.

here is an important link for you to read
Please login to see this link. (is outdated when mention these companies, some of them are now in compliance )
I noticed this statement once I upgraded to the NEW admob platform.
So I can leave it what it is, I just need to add the new rules to my policy file.
Just need to find out what to add exactly to my policy for that.
I looked at some of the ones I got an e-mail from, and they are all different.
idk if there is a standard policy item for Admob that can be used for that?
better dig in Google , problem is that some web site offer this service but is not free.

Thanks, and yes, I noticed it... everyone wants $$$ for a policy thing.
I've always had a privacy policy and all my apps link to it from their store listing.
I've been tweaking it over the last week or so to include more things about apps/AdMob/Google Analytics etc.
Take a look at Please login to see this link.
Now I don't know if this meets the requirement or not as I haven't approached any legal boffins over this, but I suppose it's a step in the right direction??!!
Hello Fernando,
could you please tell me, does fusion 2.5 have any telemetry/analytics build into (the exported project, not the editor itself) like other engines (unity, gamemaker, ...) that phones home all day long?!
For example, i sell a game/app made with fusion and the user installs it on his computer, does the game/app collect personal information from/about him or his device (ip address, hardware info, log files, etc.) and reports it back to clickteam servers?
If yes, please provide a clear list with all infos that you collect, that we dont get into legal trouble with that GDPR law, thanks.
