Volifiers: 200 high quality icons for Fusion 2.5+ qualifiers!

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • I'm very pleased to announce Please login to see this link., an icon pack featuring 200 high-quality icons for Fusion's new custom qualifier feature (2.5+ DLC required :cf25+:).

:cf25+: All 100 original icons from Fusion's qualifiers have been redesigned, plus 100 additional icons have been included, to give you plenty of new options for organising your game's objects:

:cf25+: Cleaner and more unique designs for the original 100 qualifiers mean that they no longer become easily confused with other qualifiers:

:cf25+: Each icon was painstakingly tested and extensively tweaked to ensure maximum readability across the entire Fusion interface with minimal artifacting (this was no mean feat, as Fusion displays the icons at several sizes, with multiple idiosyncratic methods of dealing with alpha and scaling.) All Volifier icons are readable in Dark Skin mode too!

:cf25+: Also included is a bonus Photoshop file with non-destructible source graphics for all 200 icons, so you can tweak them or use them as a base for your own icons. The PSD uses a Smart Object setup that instantly shows you what your icon will look like in various parts of the Fusion interface:

:cf25+: I really enjoyed making these, and I hope other Clickers enjoy using them. The Volifier pack isn't yet available at the Clickstore due to its recent delays, but you can buy it right now for a dollar at itch.io: Please login to see this link. :cf25+: :)

  • I priced these at $0.99, since they're just icons. Though as a result I've made an even-more-pitiful-than-usual return on them, considering how much time I pumped into them. Making an icon that looks good, is intuitive and clear, is sufficiently different from all other icons, is readable at tiny sizes, and plays nice with Fusion's pixelated alpha-channel weirdness takes time. Making 200 of them takes.....well, quite a lot of time....especially if you have perfectionist/OCD tendencies like I do X)

I'm going to hike up the price on these by a few dollars. Possibly on some of my other Clickstore products too. My products have always been pretty modestly priced compared to many other paid Clickstore products, and this perhaps doesn't reflect how much care and work I put into them.

Actually, I put so much time into them that I've had to ban myself from publishing any more products until Spryke's finished. It just takes up too much of my time. I get a lot of satisfaction when I see that people find my stuff useful, but I just can't afford the time (and the financial return is basically negligible). I'm in my 6th year of Spryke, and my focus needs to be squarely on Spryke until it's done. I still feel the urge to publish stuff. For example, I made a little debugging widget for myself recently for helping me locate and debug individual objects - I find very useful and think will be useful to others. But I have to keep telling myself that I'm not allowed to put any time into anything that's not directly helping Spryke. Converting something I make for myself into something that's ready for the public always requires a bunch of extra steps. If I do release anything in the near future it'll probably be on an "as-is" basis - no support, no detailed documentation, no dozens of hours building extra features into it that I think someone somewhere might want one day....

Anwyay, if you want to grab these volifiers for a buck (I think they're excellent and will immediately improve almost anyone's Fusion experience out of the box....but then I would say that ) then now's your last chance: Please login to see this link. I'll probably hike the price in a week or so.

  • Clickteam should have added these instead on 294 e.e

    Thanks X)

Yes, mine are better ;), but I think Clickteam were right not to force new designs onto people. If someone has spent 5 years using a grey dotted square for invisible, loading up 294 and unexpectedly seeing a crossed eye icon all over their game would be disconcerting, no matter the merit of the new icon. Though I see that they at least changed the decorations to not be near-identical to flowers (trapdoors and traps are as alike as ever though X))

Now if only they would fix it so the Volifiers were back onto the Clickstore (they're still available on itchio though, I think)

  • I want to use this but I am not sure I missunderstand the readme. Do I need to import every qualifier icon one by one I want? Is there no way to just replace them all in one swing and add the new ones?

Fusion doesn't have the ability to mass import qualifiers so there's no other way but to import them individually. Though included are 2 template MFAs with all volifiers loaded (one mfa with the 100 updated original qualifiers; the other with the 100 new qualifiers). So you can use these MFAs to easily see all the new icons 'in action'. And you could use the first one (the one with volifier versions of the standard 100 qualifiers) as a starting point for new projects.

  • Actually, you can import as a animation, but that would require either numbering the files or making a spritesheet

Edit: you can use the built-in export as spritesheet to make a image you can easily import later on, be aware that it won't change the names, so this works best for the originals redone.

  • Actually, you can import as a animation, but that would require either numbering the files or making a spritesheet

Hmm, you're right. I should have included a numbered version of the files for this purpose :(. I'm not going to change anything now though, because any change to a Clickstore item automatically removes your item down from the store, and it usually takes months for it to be put back up. The Volifiers have only just reappeared on the Clickstore after a long absence.

So if someone wants to speed up the process of importing, try NaitorStudios' suggestion using one of the supplied MFAs:

  • I got this on itch and fusion won't open the mfas you included - it says it was made with a newer version of the program, but when I check for fusion updates, it says it's updated. Any thoughts on what's happening?

  • Yes, what marbenx suggests would be the problem. The 2.5+DLC is required (this is mentioned in the Volifiers product description). If you spend any significant amount of time with Fusion, and if you can afford it, I strongly recommend the 2.5+DLC. It adds a ton of useful features to Fusion, many of which are 'quality of life' features that make using the program easier.
