  • Hi one of my customers is saying that this file is being blocked by 360 Total Security and each time the program starts the file (.dll) in a different folder so he cant add it to his trusted files.

This file wasn't part of my installation so I was wondering if this file is correct in being there...and how/why does it keep moving?

I guess I'll need to report the file as a non positive to 360 total security.

  • There's a few files that Fusion packages inside your builds, such as DLL files needed for your game to run as well as MFX files (extensions). While you're running your game your computer extracts these files from the EXE into a temporary folder (one of the subfolders in your %temp% directory)

I'm pretty sure mmf2d3d8 is related to Direct3d 8/DirectX. For some reason it looks like 360 Total Security has flagged that DLL as a false positive. reporting the file as non-positive is probably the best thing you can do, you could also ask the user to whitelist the file if that's possible

Don't know if it will help in this specific instance, but sometimes unchecking the "compress the runtime" option in your runtime's properties can help with false positives

  • Because 360 in some sense is a rogue software X)......
There is a joke said that "you can solve 50% problems on your computer by installing 360, and the other 50% by uninstalling it."
For example, 360's optimize will disable UAC and services like Windows update, then let you download windows patch from 360's severs. Two years ago, I purchased FF-X HD on steam and 360 said it is virus, automatically delete FF's dlls without any notification. It took me three times of retrying before I found the culprit.
Back to the 2000s, when the population of netizen began to grow rapidly in China, Zhou HongYi, the CEO of 360 company, started up his first company named 3721. 3721 is also the name of this company's product, a browser plug-in, which is known as the first and the most famous rogue software in China, spread by bundle installation.
3721 used a lot of complicated techniques to program, made it almost impossible to uninstall. About 6 years later, Zhou sold 3721 to Yahoo, then started up 360. Ironically, 360 total secure began to become famous because it can uninstall 3721......
(Another reason is, 360 was the only free anti-virus software before 2010.)
Then time comes to 2010. 360 launched a new product called "privacy protector", and denounced that Tencent QQ, the most widely used software (like discord) in China, stolen user’s private data, because Tencent began to develop it's free security software. After several weeks, The war between two companies entered a white-hot stage, and Tencent made a "tough decision", prevent user using QQ on PC that installed 360.
    >:)

  • It all sounds worthy of a blockbuster movie. I have reported as a false positive and I think my customer uninstalled 360. All good! Thanks everyone!
