I'm really considering purchasing 2.5 Plus but is it really worth more than half the price of the Standard Edition?
Is Fusion 2.5 Plus worth it?
Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.
A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.
Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

Only you can decide that... almost everyone I've spoken to has been glad of their purchase. Here's a feature list for you to read:

Here's my take on it: If you're working on a commercial release then I think it's a great investment just for DX11, RAM optimization and child events alone. On the other hand, if you're just a hobbyist then it may not be as necessary.
-
Ah thank you both
Being able to use DX11 sounds very tempting...

Be carreful about DX11 feature, I bought 2.5 plus but i'm still using DX9 cause there are some isues with the 11 like not having embedded font, or can't use pixel font (there is aliasing on it.)
-
IMO it's absolutely 100% worth it, if you use Fusion in any serious or even half-serious way.
I personally don't use DX11. I tried it when :cf25+: released, found the performance to be patchy, and have ignored it ever since. But the 101 other quality-of-life improvements (custom qualifiers, proper global events, 26+ altVals, proper "find" function, etc. etc.) are fantastic, and have revolutionised the way I work in multiple ways. They've reduced the amount of friction, confusion and time-wasting in my project, which has not only made me happier and less stressed, but also has allowed me to make my game better.
The DLC format can be misleading. The majority of :cf25+:'s benefits aren't 'optional extras' that cater to a niche of specialist users. They are fundamental improvements that make Fusion easier to use and should have been in the original release of CF2.5 (and no doubt would have been, had Clickteam had the resources to implement them back in 2013).
Since so many of :cf25+:'s features increase Fusion's ease-of-use, I would say that they are likely to be as useful for beginners/hobbyists as for long-time users, if not more so.

YES and YES

Definately worth the money.
Although I haven't used much of its new features, it is nice to at least have them on hand while you're trying to work.
-
There are so many ways it makes things easier. The extended number of strings and variables, and the fact that they apply to many more objects, really makes things easier. The profiler is an absolute lifesaver when you're trying to find out what's suddenly slowed down your app, and as Volnaiskra says, the software is just fundamentally more usable.
-
I didn’t think I’d use child events, but that is something that really streamlined what I do. Same with additional alteraboe values.
-
Yes, totally worth. The Find All feature might not look like much but if you have lots of frames and/or lots of lines and you want to search for something specific. It's God send. I'm finding myself using this feature more than I thought I would.
Profiler is helpful too.. Child Objects. -

ditto on this - especially when debugging. -

I've been able to use the Font Embedder object in DX11. Granted, it looks slightly different for the font I'm using, but not much different. Are there fonts that won't embed at all for you?
-
Child events is a HUGE game changer, the global qualifiers, the additional Alt. Values (is that a CF 2.5++ thing?) and everything else everyone has mentioned make this a pretty essential upgrade - if you end up using Fusion in anger, chances are, you will simply cave and buy it anyway as you'll end up finding a need for one or more of these features.
-
totally WORTH IT!!!
it's like in super mario when you get that FLOWER POWER!
& you cry when you lose it XD

Does the option for activate alterable values and string for Counters and Strings object are from Fusion 2.5 ?
This option really change my way to make my game, I found this not that long and I was like "My god how long is possible to do that?!", very usefull.QuoteI've been able to use the Font Embedder object in DX11. So i'm curious how you do that, i've tried and it didn't works, all my players weren't able to see fonts... in the mean time DX11 add aliasing on the font so I can't use it on my game since it's full Pixel Art
-
I didn't make any changes to my Font Embed code, it just worked out of the box. It just looks more aliased and slightly smaller. Here is an image of the two using the Optimus Princeps font. I wonder if certain fonts have issues embedding/displaying in DX11?
Top is DX11 and bottom is DX9.

The fact is pixel fonts are aliasing, that's not really readable and clean for pixel art game
-
I believe either TrueType or OpenType fonts don't work under DX11. Can't remember which one - I think TrueType.

2.5+ Help File
The font API used in the DirectX 11 runtime works with the TTF file(s) of the font(s) used in the application. It has several differences with the other Windows runtimes:
Unlike the Windows API used by the other runtimes, this API will not try to get missing character glyphes from close fonts. This means (1) that you can only use truetype fonts with this runtime, and (2) that you must make sure that the font you use contains the glyphes for the all characters used in your application.
Some styles do not work with fonts that include all styles in the same TTF file, instead of providing them in separate files.
Fonts provided as TTC files (truetype collection file) may not work.
