ANDROID TTS Object - I like it, but it could be a bit easier

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • I recently purchased the ANDROID TTS object at the Clickstore and with minimal effort. Got it working.

    ( OPINIONS BELOW )
However, compared to the TTS object for windows. It's a bit more complicated then it needs to be.

The set text function shouldn't read the text. A Speak Text should be added like the Windows TTS Object.
The sliders in the demo, do not work when building an ANDROID APP now. There is an Error during compile.
The Help File does not load any help files.
The " MY TEXT " portion of the app does nothing, so why have it? Only time it speaks is if you SET TEXT. Also, the " Is able to speak " does nothing on my device. I had to put " timer equal .30 MS/ Run this event once" to get it to speak.

I am just wondering why the Windows Version wasn't duplicated to the Android Version, for everyone whom has been using the Windows Version and are use to how it works in code?

Still an awesome addition to Android, nonetheless. Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,
As soon as I have finished my current projects(android canvas, android hardware info) etc..., I will use the TTS code to improve it.
    Thank you for your patience;

Awesome. So far it is great. I look forward to it. I hope your Android Canvas allows for in App camera features. That would be awesome. I will buy it as Google stopped the Webview2 object from activating the camera via the internet code.

Hey bud, just to let you know. There is some sort of odd bug preventing the language to be changed in app.

Basically, I can get it to read a string in English with no problem with the ANDROID TTS OBJECT set to English by Default.
Then when you click the French FLAG on the app to switch to French = 0. It switches no problem.
However, when you click any other flag it will not switch to any other language.

    Example:
App starts and speaks in English ( Default )
User Clicks the Flag for France ( FRENCH LANGUAGE = 0 )
    App then reads in French
User Clicks the USA Flag for English ( ENGLISH = 6 )
ANDROID TTS OBJECT does nothing! Still reads in French.

Please let me know if there is an update.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Properties works fine on Android. It just does nothing when triggered by an event during app use.

Basically Gets stuck in French. Won't Switch back to English or any of the other options for Language selection.

  • It's fine bud. The original download from when you first released this. Works good enough. While I can't change the language back and forth to different speakers. At least it does not cause apps to go blank with a " TTS " error message and showing the app Icon at the top of the screen on android. I am just happy you created this as it makes apps much nicer to have the text spoke for people whom can't see very well.
    Thanks for your time.
