Lost the ALT+F4 shortcut

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • I was removing menu items from my game and accidentally deleted "Quit" (with Alt+F4 shortcut.)

NO PROBLEM - I simply reset the menu and it came back......

but now the shortcut doesn't work in my game.

the menu is hidden in my game but the shortcut always worked. Now quitting out is a pain.

I feel like I must be missing something but going back to previous builds of the game with working shortcut everything looks identical.

    Any ideas?

  • I'm not sure about that particular issue, but you can just create an event in your game to quit with whatever key combo you like. I find it handy to use the same key as the one that runs the MFA (F9 in my case - I think F8 is the default). If you want to use Alt-F4, then you'll need to use the Key Object or ControlX, because Fusion's native keyboard input object doesn't recognise Alt.

Here's the event you would use for Alt-F4, using the Key Object. Put it in your Global Events so that it works in all frames of your MFA:

  • Another fix:
    - Make a new application
    - Go to the new application's properties and edit the menu
    - Press the 'save a menu' button which will save the menu as a ".ccm" file
    - Navigate back to the application with the missing menu options, go to application properties > menu, and press the 'load a menu' button there

Essentially you're transferring a copy of the default menu from a brand new application back into the old one

  • Thank you. This will do for a workaround but I wonder if the loss of functionality when removing and then adding alt+f4 is a bug or there was just something I have missed.

Maybe you forgot to set the shortcut for the menu item in question (you can do it in the menu editor AFAIK) to have it respond to Alt+F4?

//edit: In any case, I didn't even know you can actually disable Alt+F4, thought it was baked into the OS, with applications having no say in the matter. Makes for some useful and fun ideas. Useful, because you can protect the players against "press alt+f4 for the special bonus stage" jokes that would just make them lose all their progress. Fun, because you can ACTUALLY hide a special bonus stage behind ALT+F4.

There are no impossible things, there is only lack of skill needed to complete the task.
