I'll start by saying I'm not sure if this is the best way to go about things, but I'm trying to create a dynamic camera zoom in / out system.
Think of an invisible line between the player and an invisible active object that's always centered between other actives, in most cases those would be enemies but it could also be items.
The invisible active that acts as sort of the maximum zoom level would always be centered among a group of other actives identifiably by a qualifier (probably something like Reference Point just to have it make sense)
The closer the player is to that centered active the more zoomed in it gets. The farther away, the more zoomed out it gets.
I know how to do the part between the player and any other individual active object, but I need a way to take groups into account. I can't have the camera zooming in and obstructing visibility on a bunch of enemies that are technically on the screen, but they can't react to them because the camera system is obstructing game play.
So if anyone has an idea how I'd go about centering an active object dynamically among a bunch of other actives, complete with the number of actives going up and down in real time... Or maybe there's an easier method I'm just not thinking of, I am all ears.
Thanks for your time.
