[SOLVED]How to find the path to a data file that opens the main application.

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Dear friends, I haven't written here for a very long time. I need some help, please: I'm creating an application that manages a data file. I would like that when I click on this data file, the application opens. and I know how to do this. but how do I make the application find the path to the data file? I had seen that a "command line parser" extension did just that, but unfortunately this extension is not working. Thanks to those of you who will be able to help me, and excuse me for my bad English: I am Italian.

    Caro Luciano,
il fatto che tu sia italiano non compromette assolutamente il tuo inglese, che invero mi sembra ottimo ;)
Ti rispondo in inglese per correttezza riguardo agli altri utenti:

Do you mind, double clicking on a file should run your Fusion Application which should open and use that file ?

You may use a proprietary file format for that, and then in windows associate that format to your app. Which kind of data file are we talkig about ?
Anyway, if you post an .mfa file here where you shows the problem, we can try to help you better.

  • Of course, I created a file with a proprietary extension and recorded it correctly in the Windows registry. When I click on it, the related application, created with clickteam fusion, opens. But I need this application to know the path to the data file I clicked, in order to be able to open and manage it. That was my question. Thanks again to those who want to help me.
