Chart beta 1 - happy birthday MMF2

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

Clickteam.
  • Includes the majority of the final functionality - all properties, actions and expressions work correctly as far as I know, so go and test and give me extra suggestions! :D

(Jeff, a subforum when you have time? :) )

    Known bugs/glitches:

    - Drawing routine needs to be fixed (note the active object on top of the moving radar chart, which disappears and flashes as soon as another object overlaps it)
    - When you change the chart type, the other properties do not become enabled/disabled until you click away from the Chart object and back again
    - NO ICON YET :P

  • Wow ! That's a pretty good extension for applications developers !

Can ask you to see if you can add a pie chart (2D/3D) ? :)

To improve the rendering maybe, it could be possible to antialiase lines ?

EDIT: Why active 2 is sometimes hidden ?
EDIT2: Maybe you should add an option like counters to display the chart as a backdrop or as an active object.
EDIT3: I've made an icon for you if you want to use it, you can ;) :

  • Yes, the good ol' pie is a suggestion I would make.

I know this is different, (and actually more extensive and professional in many ways) than the old Chart Object that didn't get finished, but I did like the scrolling feature for the basic grid graph.

    -------------------------------------------------------------
I really have to put an aside in here.

I was intrigued and transfixed by the "objects" are being manipulated within the charts and graphs. It reminds me of something that we should do for an extension someday as I don't think it would work as a movement and there are problems and limitations with creating and using custom movements.

To put it simply: An object that would allow you to set the coordinates of a point moving on a drawn line. A simple, drawn path that an internal object follows in a user created/supplied graphic that you can get the coordinates for and set any other object to. Does everybody realize how this new kind of "path" would be so useful in games? Where the solid lines meet could be a node (dot) and a decision.

    ===============================================================

So far, this is rather comprehensive. I will be testing some more this weekend and seeing if I find any places for ideas.

  • Oh, pie chart, can't believe I didn't remember that. I'll add it into the next version, it should be fairly trivial compared to the other types.

Re: active 2 sometimes hidden - it's this bug:
"Drawing routine needs to be fixed (note the active object on top of the moving radar chart, which disappears and flashes as soon as another object overlaps it)"

I didn't realise you could choose between active and backdrop in extensions, maybe you can't at all (never could in 1.5) - I shall investigate.

Nice icon Sphax! I made a few adjustments:

Nova: I forgot all about that scrolling option. I'll add it as an alternative to increasing the graph range.

Extra bug: horizontal charts don't display their labels

(regarding your aside, a more complex, programmatic version of Please login to see this link.?)

  • Yes Chris, the motion guides is on the spot. It has been a long time since I used Flash and either the Motion Guide is new, or I forgot about it.

Personally, I would find that totally useful and revolutionary for many types of games: trains, tracks of various sorts, labyrinths, etc. Path Movement is just not as flexible or accurate enough in certain situations.

Let's you and I talk about that one in the future ;) To me, this one would be high on the list and would probably be easy to use and quite an amazing tool for users.
