  • Last Year we were having (National) Click Convention 2008 in Poland about what I was informing Please login to see this link.. But because different reasons only people from Poland came (there was no UK, France or Scandinavian [?] convention :( ) and materials can be found at our Please login to see this link. channel (like also all films from CC07 - thanks Circy for agreement!).

But this year we decided to make something bigger and after asking some users by PMs and after asking CT staff we decided what follows:

How long? We want to organize (and we will organize) 7 day convention - yes you read it right, convention will be held for whole week. But we (as organizers) agreed with Yves that many of you can have problems with so long convention and this is why first three days would be fully international Click Convention (this traditional one) and next 4 days will be mostly Polish convention. But if anyone outside from Poland would like to stay - no problem! Even it could be 7 days international convention, all depends from you.

When? We suggest one of the last weeks of July 20-27. But this is thing which we have to discuss. We are considering only weeks during holidays. So if you have got other proposals about July or August post it and we will decide about final date of Convention in first days of May.

Where? This time it will be our capital City Warsaw, Poland ( Please login to see this link.)

    Costs?
Because we are mostly students, we decided again to held Convention in Hostel (which lowers the costs and conditions are pretty good):
    - Sleeping: 140 zloty for whole week (6 nights) is like follows 40 zloty for first night each next one 20 zloty. So like for now sleeping for whole week would cost 34 EUR, 44 USD, 30 GBP.
    - Food: We think that about 10 zloty for each day would be enough. So for whole week it would be half of sleeping costs.
    - Travel: It depends from you. This Hostel is placed near Railway Station and Airport so each way would be good.
    - Other costs: About 5 + 25 zloty. 5 zloty (about 1,22 EUR, 1,60 USD, 1,07 GBP) as a entrance fee for everyone. It's not huge ammount of money but it would help us to cover costs of prizes for competitions etc. And thanks to it everyone who will pay it can enter each competition and won some souvenir. And that 25 zloty (about 6,10 EUR, 8 USD, 5,35 GBP) is initial price for t-shirt if anyone would like one.

    So what's the difference?

We Poles are known from our creativity and hospitality. Like for now our programme schedule covers:
    - Interesting presentations of upcoming Polish games
    - Presenting true capabilities of old Klik Open GL
    - Results of voting for best Polish Click games
    - Each day (from 2nd to 6th) will be held one competition in different click games like Duel Toys 2, Sommium Strike 2, Siege or War of Fantasy and two Polish titles with souvenirs as a prizes
    - One day trip (3rd day) to visit Warsaw and it's famous places and buildings

Also there would be some night competitions for game makers (last time we have got one to create a platformer). So it would be interesting events.

We are open for any propositions for your presentations of games, extensions, community projects. Anything like that.

We want to decide about term of event until end of April and depending of Convention date we will wait for official confirmation of coming until end of May/June. Because we have to get known about how many people will come to make reservation at hostel. And if anyone like he could stay in hotel or anything like that but costs will be much higher and he will end the 'night life' of this convention.

So if you have got any propositions, suggestions, questions post them here or via Private Message and we will surely respond for them.

    End is near.

  • Poland is cheaper than France or UK and it's close for Scandinavian Clickers :) So we hope that we can talk over term ASAP so we can organize everything.

And Clickers from Asia, Australia or America also are welcome :) There is possibility for them (for example if DieFox would like to come from Brasil) that we as organizers will cover partially costs of staying - it depends from amount of this outside Europe Middle East Clickers.

    End is near.

  • Well, Fano, this is definately an ambitious project. A seven day convention!!! Do you know what you've taken on board there! I'm glad to see that the closing date for conventioneers attending is the end of May/June as it gives us plenty of time to sort funds, do research, etc. I can't give you a definate answer from me now, but I will let you know as the convention gets closer if I can swing it.

  • First convention was 3 days and it was in our opinion to short - First day we arrived last day we left so true convention was only for 1 day. And now it would be about 5 days of true convention and yea we know we are ambitious, but what the hell it's Poland he everything is possible :)

And we mostly inform now to get info about what date convention should take place and how many people would be interested and to help people to organize their vacation :) And final confirming will be in May and June so don't worry you've got plenty of time.

    End is near.

  • This is an excellent idea. But I gotta say 7 whole days is quite a lot.

The experience from the UK/France conventions was, that having a convention over a weekend was the optimum to gather the most people. People had an easier time taking the weekend off from work/school/life.
While the main convention has usually been done in 1 or 2 full days, there have been nothing to keep people from staying a bit longer to hangout or just explore the country they are in. But previously this have been up to people themselves.

I really think you should consider 2 days (max 3) for the actual convention. Hopefully placed on a weekend and then just designate the rest of the days as hangout time. Let it be up to people themselves if they want to hang around.

But I do think this is an awesome idea that deserves all the backing it can get! Hopefully we'll see some subtitles on those Youtube vids of the previous Polish convention!

  • I was wondering if there was ever going to be another convention. I'd love to meet all of the people on the forums who have helped me out in the past. Hopefully I can get enough funds together. Sadly, the US economy is sucking right now, so I don't know what my job situation will be like in June. In any case, thanks for organizing this. :)

We want to organize (and we will organize) 7 day convention - yes you read it right, convention will be held for whole week.

Whole event will take place during 7 days BUT:

    Quote from Fanotherpg

But we (as organizers) agreed with Yves that many of you can have problems with so long convention and this is why first three days would be fully international Click Convention (this traditional one) and next 4 days will be mostly Polish convention.

So You should be interested mostly in those 3 days (international convention) and during those 3 days we will try to organize everything:
    - 3 Competitions
    - Plenty of presentations (also those made by Poles)
    - Trip into Warsaw :)

And next 4 days would be mostly in Polish, because most of you probably couldn't stay during them but if anyone stay we will organize some interpreters or anything needed :)

Ou and Mobichan you have got few months to get cash so you can check +- what are costs of travel (because more or less costs of staying are published) and put aside some money for it.

    End is near.

  • This looks to be a very fun event, because you guys seem very dedicated and friendly. And the prices are not half bad either!

If I can, I'll try to visit you guys at least 1 day. :)

    Any ideas?

  • Bornemix just remember that 1 night is 40 zloty and each next night is 20 zloty (like for now - if something will change we will inform you as soon as possible). But there's no problem with staying at least for one day - maybe there would be problems with accommodation but if some persons wouldn't sleep because they would participate in night competitions there would be no problem :P (At first convention after some persons went home we resigned from part of rooms and didn't have any problems with it).

    End is near.

  • Fanotherpg, if one week is 140 zloty, then it's close to half the price of the hotels I've seen here in stockholm (PER NIGHT).

But as you said, there is currently plenty of time left for planning.

    Any ideas?

  • It's 40 zloty for first night and 20 for each following (so for 7 days - 6 nights it's 40 + 5*20 = 140) but remember it's hostel not hotel but from other side it's imho better - different climate, different people :)

    End is near.

  • I don't know much about the Click conventions tbh, are there ever any in Britain? I'd love to go to one, but Poland is a tad... impossible atm. University, lack of money, etc etc.

Eh, one day I'll probably be able to go to one :)

  • Fanotherpg:

Please arrange it any date you need to as I don't know how many of the people who work for Clickteam in the USA can make it anyhow. Long trip and expensive to come over. Usually at least 2 of us make it and sometimes 3. (me, DT and ChrisC)
Rhon is the only one who works with CT USA and hasn't went over to Europe.

But we do have a big education show here the last week of June and the first week of July. If its durning that period the USA won't be able to send any people.

Also thinking ahead I am not sure how many USA people will want to spend one week away from home then right away head to Poland so it might not matter for us when it is ... Everything would just be too close for us to do it :(

Please login to see this link.

  • Tiny I'm happy to hear that people from Scandinavia could make it!

Jeff date is about to discuss and could change itself it all depends from users, because for Polish Community it's mostly important that it's during holidays - because most of us are students and pupils so we don't have anything to do then :)

So propose some term and we will discuss about it.

Czetnar we hope that it will be great.

    End is near.

  • Fano, just a small query to put your way...
I was looking at your YouTube videos of the previous convention and the room seems very small, box-like! The room at the Watermill Hotel where we have the UK conventions looks to be about three times the size of the one in the videos of the Polish Convention and that room gets quite full. What is the room situation at the Hostel because if a lot of folks decide to come, space could be an issue!

Also, any chance you can post some details about the Hostel itself, what the bedroom situation is, places to eat, and info about Poland itself. That would be great for us all considering attending the event.

  • Okey, nice points Paul so first of all first convention was held in Cracow not Warsaw and films shows only place where we had our presentations not sleeping rooms - it was a small box-like place at front of reception :) But rooms were small that's true - mostly sleeping rooms are for 2 - 3 people.

We all won't find enough room in one room, but it shouldn't be a problem because we will try to organize everything that we will have rooms one next others in one wing of 'Alcatraz' - students gave such name for this hostel :) So we could move freely between rooms.

We organized such photo gallery Please login to see this link. which presents hostel 'Alcatraz' (heh he looks like it from exterior but don't be deceived by it look! Interior is very modern (what can be noticed at later photographs). There are also some places buildings which we want to show you and say something about them and few photographs of rooms.

We consider to having presentations in 2 places in presented at photos hall with columns - it has got own climate and is very pleasure place - trust us. But also in students club which photo is here Please login to see this link. . But it all depends from amount of people and if there would be any modernisation at hostel.

At place (in hostel) we have got kitchens, laundry (for which we had to pay extra) and shop - remember if you like to eat much, take more money for food be gave info only about minimum costs of it.

Bedroom situation would be known at later date because like we know students had to decide before holidays if they stay in hostel or go back to home. And what do you want to know about Hostel and Poland?

One more thing if you would like we could make extra video from first Polish convention mixing up films from cellphones, cameras and some photos to show rooms and other stuff what we were doing (like playing board games or on TV).

    End is near.
