8 direction motion & space motion widget

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

  • This mfa file includes two frames. On the first frame are two ships, one that duplicates MMF's 8 direction motion and another that is almost identical but cuts down on the diagonal motion to make it more like real life.

    The second frame has a ship with what I will call space motion. It acts like a ship would act in space with a single engine that points in just one direction. You can increase and decrease the acceleration and the motion of the ship is programed with fairly realistic physics equations.

    Perhaps someone will find these useful.

    This is another step forward and I am sure that users will appreciate having a custom movement that they can drop right into a game from their Widgets folder. Maybe we will see more custom movement Widgets.

    Anything that advances the impetus for the value of Widgets is helpful to the cause. Someday this will be part and parcel for MMF as it gets ingrained and more advanced.

  • Spontaneous emergence? Magic? Who knows.

    Well, as an aside, there is plenty of room for other custom movement widgets if anybody gets some ideas.

    They would be handy for new users who often ask for custom movements and/or how to make them.

  • OK, this includes the "fixed" homemade 8 direction widget. It corrects for the round off error that messed up the first one. Thanks to Tomssuli for figuring out the bug.

  • Very nice. One quick bug with the 8-direction movement, though: when you hold a diagonal direction then release one of the two arrow keys, the animation direction will continue to be diagonal even though the movement direction is now a different direction.
