Fake or Real? SWF Builds Possible in Near Future?

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • So whats with the news I hear about there being an upgrade that allows us to make flash files with MMF2? The subject says April First, yet there are people that believe this to be true. There are two old games that were converted from MMF to SWF format. Is that true? I would certainly believe this as I can really play those 2 games shown on the topic.
If this is true, then this is a really big improvement for the community. People would finally be able to play fan made games made with MMF on any system (least Windows and Mac). :D

Please say this is true. I am waiting for this update. It will be really useful. :)

I know that news was posted on April 1st, and it was April Fools day (which I think it may be an elaborate plan of an April Fools joke), but there is actually good proof of the games as SWF files being shown there. I mean, how else would they be able to recreate those old MMF games in SWF? They would have to reprogram everything from the ground up into flash. I'd think that would take quite a while to do. But I can't tell any differences between the MMF .exe version of the games, and the newly created .SWF versions of the games. So .SWF conversion seems to be true. Is this the case?

    If so, excellent work! :)

  • Yea that's what I'm thinking. "Zeb" as a flash .SWF game is WAAYYY too freakishly accurate to its app.exe counterpart to be faked as a swf. Even some of the comments on the Please login to see this link. say so.
That's why I have faith in Clickteam, and belief that there really is a MMF .swf builder to be finished by them.

This is really good news indeed. :)

  • It has been confirmed. The joke was the lack of a joke. The news that Francois was working on a flash runtime was released on 04/01 as a way to torment non believers.

  • Also, not sure if this is due to the flash builder being a beta, but when I tried those games, Zeb didn't seem to have ANY sound at all. Is that a glitch, or is being worked on? Would be kind of sad to have a flash builder that doesn't compile the sound correctly. Esp. if some fan games only use .wav, .mp3, and .ogg files. Never really cared for MIDI format.

  • Sound is not supported? What the heck? Even adobe flash files support sound. How is swf different for a MMF2 app?
While the build is real, I don't see how complicated it is to make sound work. I mean, a game without sound is just very dull. It shouldn't be that much trouble to add sound, should it? They're Clickteam, right? They should be able to do this sort of thing. X_X

  • Only MP3 format? That means I have to change all my .WAV and .OGG files in my full game project into .mp3, including just the 'sound' bits to play right. That might as well screw everything up. (@_@)
Well........ I do suppose that .MP3 is better than nothing at all. (X_X)

I just don't see the point of MMF2 apps featuring .wav and .ogg if all the brand new builders are NOT going to support them. IINM, I think the early Java builds don't support sound either. But that's just from what I remember from memory. This might have changed, not sure.

  • N64Mario calm down please.
This is an alpha, with no sounds. But sounds will be supported of course (we are not that dumb you know).
The only format allowed in a ActionScript application is MP3 (I know that in the Flash IDE you can have more formats, but not in ActionScript). All the sounds of you application will be converted to MP3 when building the application, so you wont have to change anything.
And yes, you will have to pay for the Flash export.
