Want Windows 7 Pre-Order now.

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

Actually its a modified version of Vista which should run faster and be more efficient (dont know if this is actually the case, just what i have heard)... so the question is... is it worth a decrease in clock cycles and memory usage :D

Something based on Vista is in itself more then enough reason to avoid it and stick to what really works best.... XP

Modified or not, with Vista MS has gone to far in taking over control of a pc and I'm sure they will push it a little further with Windows 7. As soon as they strip away all of the control, I will reconsider.

  • Sticking with XP is fine, but eventually you're going to have to upgrade. I mean really, are you still going to be using XP five or ten years from now? Eventually support is going to be dropped.

Also, I'm not sure what control over your PC you're referring to.

If people really don't like Microsoft's OS that much, then switch to Linux, or buy a Mac.

  • /me loves mac.... but anyway.

Yeah XP was ok, but it is showing its age now, vista is ok, its a pain, but if the improvements in speed and performance are as people say it is then i think its not a bad move, especially while its so cheap. Dont know if it will stay that price either.

  • Windows 7 takes less RAM and CPU than both Windows Vista and even Windows XP. Also, the new taskbar is really nice to use (And that's about the first UI update since Windows 95!), the Aero theme was improved to look more consistent and many little features were added. I see Windows Vista as something like a terrible pre-alpha version of Windows 7, a product that shouldn't have been released in the first place. Windows XP is getting older, and it leaks features that are now considered very basic must-have features in modern operating systems. (See Windows Explorer in Windows XP. It can't even compare to Nautilus on Linux and Finder on Gnome, and even the newer Windows 7 version is much ahead.)

However, despite being a very major improvement over Windows XP and Vista, Linux and Mac OS X are still years ahead of Windows.

    Edit:
Oh, and a few of the things I didn't like on Windows 7: Calculator is now annoying, forcing you to change modes if you want to work with Hexadecimal numbers and then with fractions; MS Paint looks like a toy; Wordpad has that terrible ribbon; and still, like in Vista, no matter how do you color your windows borders, the controls still remain in that shiny cyan. And the ancient color selector dialog still hasn't been updated from Windows 3.11.

I really love Ubuntu. The only reason it's not my full time OS is that it is just a pain to get games and software for Windows to run. Yes, I know, Wine is great and all, but I've had issues of things not running, or if they do run, the next Wine update breaks it. Unless Wine has made a huge leap in quality from about a year or two ago, I'm stuck with Windows for the majority of my work.

I distinctly rememeber trying to get Civ 4 to run on Wine. I did some google searching, and the only fix I found didn't even work on the latest version of Wine at the time. It was just too much of a hassle.

Hi there for those of you that have not got windows 7 and are interested in purchasing it. I would recommend that you pre-order now as it is almost half price.
This is the cheapest offer for the professional version I have found thus far.

Is this the full version or the upgrade version? If it's full, the price is too good to be true!!

  • This is probably retarted but is windows 7 better (and faster) than vista. My vista is soooo slow, i even have that horrible 98 look and its still glitchy :(
If so, is it worth upgrading?

It's less resource intensive so you may see improvements. Vista is kind of a resource hog.

  • Vista without the eye candy stuff is quite on par with XP if you know how to tweak a few things on your own(aero off, indexing off, cut off like 200 unneeded services and so on), but the memory usage is huge. We are not talking about 256mb here, It consumes almost 1-2GB just for idling around and background defrag some text files. Windows 7 is on all topics a good step into the right direction.

But be warned on this version it is not an update version and will only work as a fresh install. So you cannot update your current OS to 7. And this "E" Version comes without IE 7. It's on a seperated disk.

  • When vista came out it was huge. But I hardly know anything about this new Windows 7.
