How to use the "console object"? (or the pipe ~)

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Hi!

I am making a game, and within it I'd like to have one of my older games (which isn't a mmf2 game) as a mini-game for the player to find.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to use the "console object", which i've heard is good for this.

Also, is there any way to hide the file that is loaded (it is supposed to be a secret :) )

    Thanks in advance!

  • A. you don't need the console object for this. If you can, make the old game a vitalize app and then you can open it as a sub-application into your game. Otherwise, just use the built in option "Execute an External Program".

    B. Use the Power System Object to make it Hidden and/or system. Or you could give it a fake name like 'data.dat'.

  • "If you can, make the old game a vitalize app and then you can open it as a sub-application into your game."

How can I do this? And can I do it even if it's an exe-file that calls to image-files?

"You could also have the file encrypted and then decrypt it to the temp directory when you want to run it."

    Same question as above.

    Very grateful for answers! :)

  • Just insert the Sub-Application object and shoose for it to run your application .ccn or .exe file. ;)

As for the temp directory thing we will need a slight tidbit of more information in order to fully help you correctly.

  • In the "main" game, you can find a secret house with a tv and video-game in it. When you sit down in the armchair in front of the tv, the game is supposed to start.

Or was that what you wondered?

A little info about the file: It's a stand-alone exe-file, and the images in the game are in the same folder as the exe-file (You can't run the exe-file without the images). It is made in Blitzplus, if it matters.

  • Well, you can just use "Run External Program" from the Special Object, and just have your app set to align with your game. ;) Oh, and make sure to make the app have no borders or anything so it looks like it's a part of your game.

And, a lot of tricky stuff. This is just tricky to do in general.
