Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

This object has already been released.

Latest beta = Please login to see this link. (Includes Flash version), for more information go to the last pages

Hello, some of you might have heard of this object already, and I think I've reached a point at which I can say that this object is stable enough to post a public beta.

The object bears a strong resemblance to Overlay Redux, but also provides many features that make it much more powerful.
Here are some of its features:

    • Multiple images in one object that can be managed at edit and runtime
    • Loading/saving to other file formats than BMP, e.g. PNG
    • Reading/Writing to clipboard
    • Alpha channels
    • Making screenshots of window handles (e.g. desktop), active objects etc.
    • Fine collision for destructible terrain and such
    • Drawing shapes with color and outline or "fill data" (E.g. for gradients)
    • Faster alternative to fast loops (Can be twice as fast) for looping through all pixels
    • General performance increase compared to Overlay
    • The object is active - you can assign movements to it and put it above Actives
    • Partial HWA compatibility - You can even apply effects
    • Flash-compatible, as of now only a few commands are ported
    • Various effects that can easily be applied
    • Drawing text

The list is more or less random - I simply wrote down what I could come up with.

    Here's the download:

    Sorry, no examples included.
I will have to come up with some good ones very soon.

I'm looking forward to hearing your input on this. :)
    Happy testing.

  • nice! about time Looki! Now if only Pictionary Online can work...

Custom A* Pathfinding in MMF2: Please login to see this link.
Random Tile World Generation: Please login to see this link.

  • Maybe. I haven't touched Java yet. I'm interested in a Java Mobile version though, but this object is pretty big - I'm not sure how well it would run.

Fine collision seems to be broken by the way... thanks to LB and Jaffob.

ASD: The options are system-dependant, but it should work! I'll have a look at it.

    system-dependant?

I was disabled ClearType in the setting of Windows. however, it's worked(Anti-aliased is doesn't work).

What is the difference between Anti-aliased and ClearType?

  • Looki, this object is great! Thanks very much!

Just one thing: I can't seem to place active objects in front of it. I'm only using it to dynamically draw a line between a point and the mouse but it seems to remove actives when I "clear" the surface.

Edit: It's almost working now. Actives are flashing instead :/

  • ASD: Ah, yes! ClearType should work no matter what, sorry. But anti-aliasing should, too...
The difference between anti-aliased and ClearType is that ClearType uses a more advanced technique, see this picture:

Note how the borders are orange/blue - that makes it more readable to us. With simple anti-aliasing, these colors are not used, which makes it a bit uglier but still better than aliased text.

Nim: An example would be nice! I should have access to MMF within a few minutes so I can test it myself. :)
EDIT: Never mind, I'm able to reproduce it
EDIT2: Gee, thanks, I simply forgot to set a stupid flag. It will definitely be fixed for the next build. I've been working on the display routines recently... This fixes the fine collision masks bug as well. :D

  • I have tested this quickly, first impressions are this needs examples lol :)

I hope you won't mind me saying it but compared to overlay redux i find it confusing, possibly down to the naming and no help/examples. It seems like the most basic thing from redux but cannot yet figure out how to simply paste all copys of a active into the surface together, seems it would be one of the blit options?

Most of the other stuff seems to work well and this will be very useful, i just need to get used to how it works ;)

  • Okay, since I've fixed a bad redraw bug, the fine collision bug, and forgot to add the Flash build, here's a new version.
No examples yet. I'm working on that.
I agree, Atom, it's hard to figure out what to do. I will definitely upload some within the next hours.

The flash build is limited to the actions in the "With color" sub-menu. Polygons&text are not supported. Shapes are drawn with anti-aliasing, I was unable to figure out how to disable that.
The image that is drawn in the frame editor is not copied. Some expressions like Get RGB should work as well...
