My mfa is 322 mb! Please help me optimize!

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Ok, so my question is: Can I use only one background for all the levels in my app? and I mean only one background period. Let me explain. I have over 20 levels, and each of them have the "supposed same" background. Well at least they have the same name throughout the other levels. Is MMF counting all these 1024 x 768 backgrounds as a separate or is it really using background x for all it's duplicates? I am guessing that I should use one backround at the first level, then create a load code from the other levels so the program loads the original background from the first level but not actually put or duplicate it into them? (I don't know how to do that either) Another thing, If I resize my actives to a smaller size within the frame, will that shrink my mfa down some megs? thanks! there is no audio on it, just pictures (well there's only a 500kb ogg in it to be honest, but that's it) I will not be making an exe. I'm just sticking with the mfa. Thanks! Oh and Sorry but external files won't do, because all content must hide within the mfa. (Yes I keep this mfa with it's contents encrypted and private for a reason) And yes, right now I am experimenting an optimization with a guinea pig copy. Just thought I could get a quick answer!

  • Eh, one spot is good enough ;)

But yeah this would be the correct forum.

What did you respond to my post? Or is it resolved? I'd use an external file for the images that are similar I guess if they're in separate frames?

  • Yes, I see what you mean now Ricky. Thanks! I'll try that! yes my apologies. I had posted in the wrong spot by mistake, so I got nervous and posted again on the right forum! Is there no way we can delete a post of ours?

  • You can delete posts but after a while you lose that ability, Then after a bit longer you lose the ability to edit your post. You'd have to ask a moderator or admin to delete your thread because you can only delete threads with no responses on these forums.

Also, about your MFA being so big, I really don't know how you can even wait for it to save the file! My suggestion is that if you MFA exceeds 50MB and your EXE is larger than 20MB, then you should switch to considering it a larger project and use an external file system with an installer.

Working as fast as I can on Fusion 3

  • MFAs are large because they don't compress anything. The size doesn't matter, though, because you're only meant to keep it for development. When you build an EXE/JAR/SWF/whatever for distribution, everything is compressed (this can be dramatic - try it).

Why do you want to keep it as an MFA for distribution?
