Tester Group Preperation

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

    If you are one of the invited testers then welcome, if you are a standard CT extension tester and want to participate then get in here!

    We are ready to begin testing a Beta of the Irrlict 3d objects Ross has been working on! Our plan is simple, break into four separate teams of testers, each focused on a specific 3d game genre. The idea being run the objects through their paces by putting them in unique situations. I believe we can identify many issues this way and in the end have some great example games to include to boot. If you are a consistent contributor to this testing you will receive your own copy free of the objects once released.

    Here is the list of the four game types we are focusing on for testing...

    First Person Shooter
    Third Person Adventure
    Racing Game
    Simple Flight Sim

    Ross has also requested that the testing groups try real hard to include shader effects like water, shadows, moving grass etc as the objects support this and it will be a excellent way to showcase the examples once we are done with testing. So please if you have not responded to my e-mail already or are a User with access to this forum already and wish to test, please respond with your order from best to worst of the four types you think you can contribute to. I will then organize the teams from that information. If you guy have any questions please also leave them here, I will be posting the Beta files shortly!

  • Eagle4, I will make an example if I get some time, but the basic principle is this:

    There is an 'Irrlicht Engine' object, of which you need 1 of and will probably cover your entire frame. This object handles everything and other objects can be added to it at runtime. In terms of actions/expressions/cnds, this object does not do much but has some useful tricky things that it can do.

    Next you probably need a 'Irrlicht Node - Camera' object which will also most likely cover your frame, the area the object covers dictates where the scene is rendered on the screen (from that camera, within the area the Engine takes up).

    Then most other objects have the word 'Node' in them. That means they are objects that exists within the 3D scene. The exceptions are a couple 2D HUD/Overlay type extensions, and a Material Cache extension.

    Materials: Anything that needs a Material has to retrieve it from a Material Cache object. This object is basically a cache of materials :P, it has a lot of properties, and through this object you can do cool things like shaders.

    Oddities worth remembering:
    - An object set to 'Auto Add to Engine' (edittime property) actually happens at the end of the first mmf loop.
    - You cannot change the material of a object/node until it is added to the engine.
    - Once you've changed a node's material changing that material's settings in the Cache object won't have any effect: You have to reload it.

    However, since kisguri has not yet given the new version of objects, I am experimenting with the v0.009 Beta ...

    But MMF2 bug, since I can not find the object Irrlicht engine (besides the old plant as examples MMF2 not find IrrlichtEN.mfx)

    Could you link version .010 beta version?

  • Eagle4 your jumping the gun, I will have to cite you two demerits, How ever due to your motivation for testing we will commute your sentence, I hadn't posted it yet cause I was trying to include some examples to jump start everything!!!

  • mmm ... Impossible for me to run the 3D engine ... The 2D extension works well, but nothing for 3D ... Neither the meshes, or grounds, or even the skybox ...

    And the example to see the water does not work ... But maybe this is more compatible with the new version ...

    It may be me, would it be possible to have this example :
