Racing Game (Irrlicht Beta and Example)

Alright, who will be programming?

what sort of vehicle and track combo do you want to use?
options:
1. normal road car and street circuit (like GT)
2. dirt road (rally)
3. oval track (nascar)
4. race track (F1)

my pref, is 3,4,1,2

yes, I can do all the modeling and texturing/animation. I was thinking about terrain similar to Diddy Kong Racing, but more of a oval track. It could be possible to add some nice pixel shaders to the water but then, it is more a technical stuff than artistic.

this is an example for what ive figured out so far. im posting this so others can look at the source to get a head start on how to begin to use the objects.

Nice start danjo! You only need to use a Static mEsh for your car. Unless you animate it later on.

I'll get a car model textured and animated with wheel movement forward and backward sometime this week then we can go on with controlling animation.

i was going to be animated, but i was on holiday, and didnt have access to my modellers etc. this is only a mess around to find bugs.

yeah.. damn had to brush up on trig im too old for maths

So, no model with more than 1 texture file?

I think the texture size should have a bigger weight. I'll have it with one texture then. 512x512 or 1024x1024? I'm thinking 1024 for terrain and 512 for vehicles, 256 for trees, stones etc.

experiment, and see what works/looks best

Car update on modeling and texturing. I'll try to find some time to have it properly animated soon. It has 1665 vertices and 1970 faces.

wtf- how many faces? dude....

you know, we're not in 1994 anymore. I think this engine can pretty much afford some nice tires for 2k models
