Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Ok I have been playing around with Misfit Model 3D (Freeware) which does modeling, texturing and animation and exports to md2 for the Sandy extension to consume. However I am a bit stuck here as I can't seem to get any texture working on the exported md2 model. Loading the file by importing it as a md2 in Misfit shows that the model, animation along with the texture is actually intact.

In MMF Sandy extension, the model imports correctly along with it's animation but no texture can be seen. I tried using the texture as both binary data element and external file and pointing it to the 3dModel's "ID" like the "Example1" but it doesn't seems to show up. The Example1 works so it shouldn't be that flash security issue thingy.

Anyone who got this working please do share your approach?

    Thank you :D

  • This looks like a promising extention.
    Nice work.

I wasn't able to load any objects.
I had to convert different files to .md2, but none of them show up.

Also, is there a way to destroy an object after it is create?
I saw the invisible option, but nothing to destroy.

    More more thing,

I saw that you posted about other 3d software you may work on besides sandy3d.
As far as you know, is this extension going to remain or will it be replaced?

  • It makes things a lot faster but to make good use of Stage3D people would need to update to Flash Player 11 and also have a GPU enabled graphics card.

Even with the newer 3D library's for a non GPU library Sandy3D is still very good, what you could do i guess is enhance it with things like as3dmod and physics etc.

  • Does anyone know if there is a way to access the compare the name of one of the 3d primitives in a new event?
I'm putting together a primative level editor and I need to be able to compare the 3d object names to alterable strings in order to drive events.

    thx

  • Ok,

I made a basic... very basic level editor that uses just the cubes.
The cubes seem to have a rendering problem when you put 3 or more beside each other.
I've tried many different options, but none of them fix the problem.
Here is the link to the editor.
Please login to see this link.

If you click on the grid, it makes blocks that show up in the 3d screen.
You can use the arrow keys to move around.
And yes there is collision detection.

Once the rendering issue is resolved, I plan on building the save and build method.

  • Thanks,

After I get the saving sand reloeading system down,
I will deal with the the height mapping aspect of the editor.
BTW I'm not sure how hard it is to add primatives, but a right angle triangle, half cube one with would be huge, for ramps, roofs, etc...

I've noticed that the pixels aligned with the smallest unit of the 3d scene as well.
After I figure out how to make a 2d object that rotates/moves 360 degrees, I will be able to control the movement of the camera.
Once that happens, the power of all of the other extensions will come into play.

This is a very exciting extension you have put together.

  • this is really neat! if you can get the 3d movement going smoother, (a la wolfenstien) this engine will have tones of potential!

Now, is there any way to have textures for the objects embedded in the swf rather than calling them out by url?

  • That would be cool if you could keep all of your textures in an active object.
I am still working on the level editor.
I hope to have something up by the weekend.
I think a found a way to do smooth walking, but I have to build some levels to test it out.
Trying hard to stay focused. lol

  • k,
It took a bit longer than expected, but here is the next version of the level editor.
Please login to see this link.

It now has the ability to move objects and resize them.
There are instructions on the editor.

  • Issues to report:

Objects do not appear if they are longer.
It look like the object does not show if the center point is not in the viewable screen.

Also, the objects do not stay within the confines of the dimension set for the scene

  • No pressure Stephen, but just wondering how Sandy 3D is going.

I have made great progress (in my own little world) on the level editor.
Please login to see this link.

It now has collision detection that matches with the height of the objects and it now has stairs, walls, cubes, and doorways.
BTW, you can raise and lower the height of the camera by selecting "party" and holding down the shift while you hit up or down with the arrow keys.

I can't wait to see how it looks when the rendering of Sandy gets corrected. :)))
