Tile-less level design in MMF2

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Hi
I'd really like to construct the stages for my game using painted images assembled in a fashion similar to braid or Aqaria rather than the usual tiles & I was just wondering if this is possible in MMF & if it is then how.

here are examples of what I mean

    Any help would be appreciated

  • It can be done to an extent... I don't think you'll be able to get such smoothly rotated large graphics without taking a huge hit to game speed, but just placing objects around in a level is easily done with MMF.

With HWA you could have quite a lot of objects without any hit to the fps. A heavy graphics game like those would never work with normal MMF2 though. It would bring the game to a crawl.

So to answer your question... "sort of". MMF2 is sort of designed for "place anywhere" editing.

  • The best way to do this would be use regular tiles for collisions, and then just but the large images as backdrops over top of them. It'd look the same, and there'd be less issues with collision.
