Game won't run on device - continued

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

The following game will not run on my device. At all. I'm hoping someone can tell me if it works on theirs.

It would also be very valuable to know whether it runs at full speed on someone else's device. I have been having trouble getting any of my games to run at full speed. Games with multiple layers run at about 10fps.

  • Could someone please take a look at this game and let me know if it runs at full speed? I'm at my wits end trying to get things optimized for ios devices. I have solved the problem of getting games to run on my device (it just started working, I've been testing a different game) but I would really like to know if and how this game runs. Maybe someone will see something in it that tips them off to why I'm not getting games to run at full speed. I keep hoping there will be some sort of update that further optimizes mmf2 games for ios because I'm not having any luck doing it myself.

  • AH - &#*ING - HA!

Debug. Debug was it. When I started testing my new game, which I knew for a fact was on par with the first game I had tested (and ran at 100%) and the new game was lagging just as badly as the last game I tested, I knew something was up. When I first used xcode it was an older version. So I started looking up things about newer versions of xcode causing problems. I came across a few links. Some people having the same issue as me, games running slow. Well someone mentioned that in newer versions of xcode (which are laid out like 99% differently than the first version I used) the run settings are set to debug as the default. This causes the debugger to run in the background (even when disconnected apparently?) which slows things up. I switched to 'release' and now both games are running beautifully.

So for anyone who runs into this, in Xcode, above where it says scheme (next to where you select simulator/device) click on the project, and select edit scheme. In the window that comes up, select the second tab down (Run Whatever_your_project_is_called) and change the build configuration from debug to release.
