Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • the custom controls were very easy. Easier than even some of the tutorials I looked at. Of course, everyone has different requirements, so what works for this game might not work for another type. Basically I created 4 actives, one for each possible touch (I wanted all buttons to be able to be mashed at once if desired), and made it so that when

'touch 1 is active' = 'set touch object 1 to touch 1'.
'when touch 1 is not active' = 'set touch object 1 to middle of screen' (where it's not over any buttons).

Then for a button press you'd just use

'touch object 1 is over jump button', 'only one action when event loops' = jump.

. . . actually I used a qualifier for each touch active object so I didn't need to repeat events for each one.

That's the jist of it anyway. I don't remember the exact wording of the events.

JimJam: The gameplay is relatively simple. The idea was to do an nes style shooter. Jumping. Shooting. Multiple Weapons. . . and that's about it. Those are the kinds of games I like =)

There will of course be more enemy types, bosses, and some different gimmicks and obstacles throughout the levels. That is just stage 1, introducing the basics. But the move right and shoot element is still the core of the game.

  • I forgot about this when I got home! haha thanks for the detailed reply, sounds easy, I might try and port an old platformer over to iOS and try to make custom controls like these this afternoon.. after I've liked your page! XD

Aw dude... The icon... A real wasted opportunity... It should be pixellated, using the sprite from the game, it should scream "this game is retro!" to people, represent what the game is, not just a cartoon of a Rhino... If you have difficulty change the icon, seriously, it can make a HUGE difference... I'm worried it could let your game down. Check out some icon writing guides.
