Convert Game Maker game to MMF??!?!

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • okay I found this:Please login to see this link.
Its mostly talking about making games work on iphone, which GM can't build for. But what caught me off gaurd was this:

If you're rich enough and really determined you can find a workaround to just about anything. Please login to see this picture.
Buy Multimedia Fusion Developer assuming iphone can play j2me games, and port your GM game to Multimedia Fusion. Cost : about $400.
    Or.
Buy Unity3d (unity3d.com), port your GM game to that superb game making application and publish straight to iphone. Cost : $1500.

What are they on about?! I AM misreading something, right?
I mean don't get me wrong it would be totally awesome if I could convert my .gmk file into a .mfa. But that sounds so unrealistic, I MUST be missing something. Please tell me what that might be.

If it IS possible though, I would also like to know more. Since I couldn't find any explanations that I liked.
    :)

  • so by "porting", he means making the exact same game from scratch, in a different program?

Just the THOUGHT of how much work would have to be re-done.... :(

You really ought to think wisely before you choose what program to make your game with :P

  • Well yeah that is the case. Anyone who is building a 'serious' game or any kind of development would have researched this beforehand. Market, product and development Research is always done beforehand. I wouldn't recommend GM for any kind of serious game development especially one that is intended to be cross-platform.

  • I'm curious though what the $400 is referring to. Is that the cost of Dev and the iOS exporter or what?

That's my guess, since mmf2dev is $350+. And I think it was just to give people idea, they probably allowed what they said to be extremely loose which is understandable in my opinion. if theyre just basically warning people that "to do this you will have to spend several hundred dollars!"
