CT: any chance to get modal Subapps?

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Just wondering, are modal Subapps generally impossible in iOS, or is there a chance to make this option available in future updates?

A pause menu with the Q&A Object is simple, but visually not appealing and limited to 2 options. On the other hand, making your own pause routine for a complex game can be a pain. In Windows-based games, modal Subapps are by far the most effective and versatile solution for any kind of ingame menus. Would be great to have this feature in iOS.

  • And it's not only about pause screens, just think about in-game options, upgrade screens etc.

  • hate to bring an old topic back, but I was about to post it and since I found a thread about it and there's no official answer, here it is again...

ClickTeam, would it ever be possible to add the modal option in the subapps using iOS exporter?

  • +1

Also, is there any way to make the sub-app transparent (iOS and Windows?) I heard that the 'display as sprite' option can do this, but I can't find any actions for this. Seems that the sub-app does have parameters for effects etc to compare them but how can I set them?

    Cheers!

  • Because of big interest in this I decided to investigate how much work it would take to make this happen.
I thought it would be a major change but as it turned out:
I could implement it in less than an hour (including debugging and testing) :)

  • An updated help file for SubApps would be nice, too. I've lost track about the runtime-specific limitations and bugs that were fixed, but I guess there are still some important details to consider when planning a cross-platform app using SubApps. Like sharing files with the main app (impossible in iOS) and problems in Windows hardware or windowed mode (Please login to see this link.). You either stumble upon such information by pure chance or when it's too late and you're already in trouble.

Would be great if all issues with this object could be fixed but if that's not possible, please give us an overview of the possibilities and limitations in it's documentation. It's too time-consuming to check all forums all the time, looking for details you might have to remember in the distant future.

  • Another necrobump...

Would it be possible to make non-PopupWindow SubApps optionally able to pause the parent Application too? The automatic pausing from Modal SubApps is very useful (pause menus, info screens, mini-games, etc.), but a full separate modal PopupWindow can be a problem with windowed games. Specifically, one can't move, minimize, close, etc. the original window while the SubApp is running.

edit: oops, found this thread through search, didn't notice it was in old iOS forum... will repost somewhere more appropriate :)

  • So, modal apps doesn't work for Android? I'm trying to integrate them in my game for a Pause sub app but it doesn't creates at all, something which works in the PC. I had problems with sub apps too in Flash; apprently it just does works with PC? If so, I don't understand why the SubApp extension is available for these devices if it doesn't works at all >.
