How to create stages/level pack help

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Hi everyone, will try to keep this problem short and simple...

Idea: putting together stages like, Cut the Rope, Angry Birds etc, and allow the player to try get '3 stars' on each level, and saved so they can always replay a particular stage from the 'stage-select' menu, to attempt to get all 3 stars.

I'm assuming we have to set the player's score as global? My problem is that I'm not sure how to start, would really appreciate it if someone of more experience could maybe point me in the right direction, or post up a step-by-step solution?

I also feel this will be useful for other users to learn too, so they can also put together their own game with stages and star ratings.

Thanks to everyone in advance who can help out! :)

  • Most games are done with a custom level format which is loaded at runtime, but it is a bit complex for a beginner. Here is an excellent article written by Sketchy/MuddyMole on using Excel as a level editor. Please login to see this link.

  • While it is an interesting article, sometimes I think that this concept of thinking outside the box as far as utilizing a spreadsheet program to block out levels just complicates things; it speaks a different language, and sometimes that seems to be the problem -- trying to juggle two or three different languages when you cannot seem to synchronize. I think that using paper is more effective, but beyond that, I wasn't sure what the question was. Were you asking how to block out levels? Or how to make them accessible from the stage select mode? Clarify please.

  • Thanks for the link Jacob. I was hoping to do it all within MMF. I'll attempt this myself and if I get it done I'll post it up for everyone.
