Build Types: Is there a difference?

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Hello everyone, and hello Click Team.
I've been using these game making tools since Klik & Play, glad to see the XNA Plugin out, finally gave me a reason to jump in and Purchase MMF2 and the XNA Plugin.

I'm getting ready to get a game I've had planned for a while into production and I notice that under the build types for what XNA Supports (Windows PC, Windows Phone 7, XBOX 360), that there are two build types under each category. Those being 'project' or 'application.

It's been a long time so I'm a bit rusty if MMF even had those two types but is there a difference between them? Will I get different usability or tools if I choose a 'project' build versus an application build?

I want to make sure I'm using the right build type for the game from the get-go.

Really looking forward to using this, hopefully the game sells but that's down the road. It's going to be a fun ride just making it.

  • The first one you should use is "Project". It creates the project folder ready to be compiled.
Then, use "Application", as it only saves the data of the game without re-creating the project.
IF you add a new extension to your application, then use "Project" once, then "Application" again.
Everything is written in the help : Distributing/XNA. You should read it.
Dont forget to get you apphub registration from Microsoft.
