Shooting while strafing backwards.

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Currently, I'm making a 2D side-scrolling platformer using the built-in platformer engine and I was just wondering what the easiest way to shoot while strafing/walking backwards would be. (Currently, to avoid directional glitches like shooting in the wrong direction) I make sure the sprite is facing the way it's shooting, so I'm wondering what the most straightforward way of accomplishing this could be... any help would really be appreciated! Thanks!

  • The best way of doing this is to:
    - Create a Player Movement Object ( invissible but handles all movemnt )
    - Create a Player Sprite Object ( wich is the visual representation of the Player )

This way the player can be moving in one direction while facing a different one.

How can i change username and display name?

  • OK, So I've uploaded my .mfa in it's entirity. (why? because it was about 60MB with just the one level and no music and I don't know why)
Anyway, basically, I want someone to take a look who has experience with the player movement object, so I can still shoot and jump. I don't mind if a completely different engine can be implemented, as long as it can be easily tweaked and it keeps the integrity of the game). No new animation frames should be necessary, and it won't be hard to split the top from the bottom like Chris B's example.. (also, if you look at the "tutorial level" some of the text isn't showing, and when i get it too, it lags up the run time for some reason, so any help with this would be fantastic!) This is a project of passion, so anyone who can help will get a special thanks in the credits.
