Orientation issues with iOS 6

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Hi,

I just want to make it clear that this issue does NOT happen on iOS 5.1.1 or lower. I'm not sure if this is a known issue, or even if there's already a known fix for it.
When I run (in this case) two different apps I've been working on, both Landscape (Left to be specific). I load them onto my iOS 6 device and it's being forced into portrait. I made sure the orientations were right in Xcode too. Again, iOS 5.1.1 is handling it all correctly.

I'm using the latest MMF2 iOS Beta, latest version of Xcode, the golden master. And the iOS 6 GM. This issue happens on both my 4S and iPad (3).

    Thanks for the help,
    Brian

PS. Existing apps already in the App Store seem to be working fine. So I guess the new Xcode changed something when compiling? I'm no expert or anything...

  • Confirmed xhedgehogx, I put a picture of my game of Mazinger running in Landscape and the iPhone and iPad it in Portrait.

This if it is an important issue and I think that the exporter should be updated immediately now that iOS 6 comes to the public the day 19/9. Is that François holiday but suddenly Andos can solve this. :)

  • Hopefully the response of Clickteam!

I take this opportunity to report, and this has been happening since before, if our app is universal, in the iPhone appears twice size Joystick. The iPad this bug does not occur. Notice in the picture that I put, this is the version of the iPhone.

  • We will make sure this is resolved before the final release of iOS6 :)
I will install the iOS6 SDK after the next beta to make sure everything runs perfectly.

  • Ah maybe I was a bit hasty there :)
We found a serious bug with the runtime which we want to have fixed so we have delayed it for tomorrow.
I can't promise the fix will be there by then sorry. I do promise the iOS6 bug has top priority on my end and that we will have it out as quickly as we possibly can.

  • Thanks Andos, and leverage please to fix the problem of the image of the Joystick that doubles its size on the iPhone when the app is universal. Look at the image above. :)

  • Thanks, Andos, you rock! For right now, I'll just continue testing on iOS 5 devices. I guess I should have let you guys know about this as soon as I first saw it. I think it was in the iOS 6 beta 2-timeframe. I just assumed it was an error on my part and was kinda busy with other things so I just ignored it.

Anyway, can't wait for the update.

  • I've just updated to iOS 6 and Xcode 4.5. My game works fine, although I've noticed in Xcode under 'supported device orientation', landscape right is also selected even though my game is only set portrait in mmf. Even though on my phone it doesn't go into landscape. Maybe this is the problem?

Also, the performance is a little worse. Before when I built my project at the most optimized setting in Xcode it was very smooth, but with 4.5 when I use the same setting it's stutters a little more.

  • colej_uk - Have you rebooted your device since upgrading to iOS 6? I've noticed my iPod touch was quite jerky until I did this (crashed the App Store a lot too!)

  • Yes, actually I was just about to post this. It seems to have smoothed out a little after a reboot :)
