I can't get the accelerometer to work (XNA Phone Application)

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • I've tried to get my player controlled by the Accelerometer for my phone application but I can't figure out how to get it to work. I have looked at the help documentation. It is unclear whether I should be using an Accelerometer or a Joystick set as Accelerometer, or both. I have tried all those combinations.

Any best practices or more explicit instructions are appreciated. I have the behavior I want with a Touch Joystick, but an Accelerometer is the ultimate goal, masked for left and right motion only.

    Thanks.

  • Does you player use one of the in-build movement? If yes, then you should set the property Joystick / Device in the frame properties, to "Accelerometer".
If not, then you should use the Accelerometer object.

  • By in-build movement, do you mean the types from the movement drop-down? Yes, I was using the 8 direction type. Is there a more appropriate one to use? My assumption was that if I use the Joystick type:Accelerometers that was the right one, but my player doesn't move. I have his control assigned to Joystick 1.

    Thanks for the assistance.

I have attached my MFA file. I started over with a project dedicated to just trying to work out the kinks. Right now it is with an accelerometer joystick. I have tried with accelerometer object, too. One thing I am seeing with any variation I try where I get some movement (and it never feels right) is that it stops responding at all after about 10 seconds.

    Any guidance is appreciated.
