  • I was wondering if the flash mp3 extension could be made:
    - for exe, not flash
    - play songs from file, not url

I say this cause I like it better than direct show. Direct show can't play songs over frames without either the music skipping a little or if you make it global, you'll lose control of the song and won't be able to force it to stop when on another frame.

This can already be achieved in EXE by simply using the 'Play From File' action... which is built into MMF2 and no need for an extension.

using what type of object for this? I can't find the option. can you tell me where to go to get it? its not for direct show is it? as I said, there's a problem with direct show that flashmp3 doesnt have.

if you mean "play music file", you do know that only supports midis, right?

  • OH I see. I was going to suggest 'Play Sample File' but for some reason it won't support .mp3 even though 'Play Sample' does, maybe Francois could elaborate more on that one...

Yeah... I just want to do what direct show does while being able to CORRECTLY play music between frames, like I said in my first post. I can save the music position to a value at end of frame, but that makes it skip a little. If I make it global, I will lose control of it in the next frame and won't be able to stop it. Flash MP3 does it right for me.... but well its only for flash.

  • I do not understand, why not use the default Play sample action, which works with MP3. if you have the swf exporter, and check the property "Play sounds over frames"? In a swf file, all the sounds are converted to mp3...

I prefer to have music very separate from samples, it just makes me feel like I won't mess it up by mistake. In MMF3, can't the direct show objects work a little better? If flash mp3 can do what I want, direct show ought to as well, shouldn't it?
