Future: 3D Transitions between frames

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Hello everyone,

I had a look on these forums and don't think this idea has been addressed, but could the future of MMF perhaps push towards futuristic 3D transitions to navigate between frames instead of the current 2D ones which look very familiar to the good old days of using The Games Factory all them years ago?

For instance, if you have seen a presentation built with Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 or iWork Keynote, there's quite a few interesting and exciting transitions that you can use between slides, such as Ripple, Vortex and Cube.

I think many games and programs produced by this already-awesome program would be quality if menus or levels looked appealing when changing frames.

I don't know if this idea would be considered, since in my opinion, 3D capabilities are quite limited already in MMF2. I'd love to see 3D transitions in the future however! :)

Could this be a possibility? What do you think?

  • The reason I started this thread is because I see transitions currently in MMF2 as a bit basic and inconsistent at times. They're satisfactory, but there's room for improvement.

At the moment, I use the Easing Object to get certain buttons, text and images to fly in across the screen for my apps, but I think things would feel more rich if they had more then something simple. Take Apple's Mac OS X user interface as an example, they have interesting ones; like the Dashboard, the fly-in dialogue's at the top, and the genie transition for minimizing.

In games, this would be good for pause dialogues. In applications that feature multiple "workspaces", a cube could switch between the two.

I see the future of application's making use of more fancy transitions. Like from Windows 7 to Windows 8, it's jumped from a static Start Menu to one with tiles zooming in one by one.

  • lh37 - if you're using Fly-In routines you can just use the 'presentation movement' inside the built-in movements...?

Ah, I never knew about that. Thanks for pointing that out. But still, it's quite simple and doesn't offer 'smooth' control like the Easing Object does. :(

Edit: I just realised another movement called "InAndOut" is a little bit like the Easing Object....

  • +1 for this post,

Been looking for 3D transitions between frames, haven't yet found some transitions to add.
Would be a very nice addition to MMF2 to have this feature "improved"/"Extended" from it current state.

Been looking for a page turning transition between Frames, any one got any clue where else to look ?

Edit: Notice there is a scrolling option for Modules when editing transitions, is there more transition Modules out there ?
