Glob Wars: Online with source released!

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

Clickteam.
  • Hi everyone! If you've been on ClickConverse, then you might have heard that I've been working on an online multiplayer version of Please login to see this link.. So, anyway, here it is. The source code is included, for those of you who want to learn from it (just a warning, but none of the code is commented, but it is very straightforwards, so, if you already have experience with MMF2, you probably don't need comments).

The file was too large to upload to the forums, so you can download it here instead: Please login to see this link.

Please give me feedback on how I could improve it. Or, ya know, you can improve it yourself if you want. ;D

    Anyway, enjoy!

My Please login to see this link. (which I actually use), my Please login to see this link. (which I mostly don't use), and my Please login to see this link. (which I don't use anymore pretty much at all really). If there are awards for "'highest number of long forum posts", then I'd have probably won at least 1 by now. XD

Edited 2 times, last by happygreenfrog: Changed download link. (Thanks redpandagames!) (October 1, 2013 at 6:54 PM).

  • If anybody wants to play a game with me, I'm hosting a game with the ID 18560.

EDIT: Game closed! A player has joined!

  • It's got a lot of bugs... But, they should be able to be easily fixed. :)

Erm, did you join that game? 'Cause someone else had already joined (I think), which might explain the bugs. :)

    Anyway, new game ID: 4187

Make sure to hit the "refresh" button before joining a game, just in case. It will be fixed by the next version so that you don't have to do this.

Okay, game closed! Don't join the game if it shows up for you, okay?

  • Yeah, that was me, I joined the game, I was the one playing. :)

Actually, I think Sparckman joined (I've been chatting with him on the chat).

  • Well, I just played with someone. A couple bugs I noticed:

    -Whoever dies, wins.
-The explosions still stay on screen and can hurt you even after the grenade has been fired.

    Logan Apple

    X Star

Please login to see this link.

Huh, I've heard about the second bug, but I don't have the issue myself. The first bug is a known issue, and has been fixed already.

EDIT: I think I've found the issue, and it should be fixed. :)

EDIT 2: You were probably playing with me. :)

  • Awesome, well it was a fun game. :)

Well, now I have a few more things to do, then I'll be releasing the new version. :)

EDIT: By the way, anybody can host this on their website, if you want. Just make sure to PM me about it so I can link to it as another download source.

  • I need two testers for the next version. The next version might as well be done, but I need to make absolutely sure first. Why 2 instead of 1? Because I need one to test the actual game itself, and the other to test the spectator mode.

  • Well, I'd be willing to test it and help out whenever I have time. :)

Good! Now I need one more tester, since I need someone to test the spectator mode.

  • Okay, I have two testers. XStar, I'll send you a download link through PM (or, if you'll come onto ClickConverse, I can PM you the link there, since it will be faster). If all goes well with the new version of the game, XStar, feel free to host the new version game on your website (I had someone else host the first version, since the only place I could host it had a lot of ads (and it wasn't MediaFire)). :)

  • Okay, version 2 has been released now! This time, there are two options for downloading it. Choose the one you prefer:

Mediafire: Please login to see this link.

Or File dropper: Please login to see this link.

If somebody wants to upload it to their own site (as another download source), please PM me a link, as I'll be glad to add it to the list of download links/replace these download options with yours.

Anyway, patch notes (with credits for the guys who helped me)!

The game should move the player on the other end more accurately now, since it now sends the position of the player every 0.05 seconds instead of every 0.1 seconds.

Try to make the Dead Reckoning object use better settings. (still needs improvement LOL)

    Blast coordinates when possible.

The game now correctly displays the winner (thanks for finding that one with me, RootKernel!). It turns out that I inverted the winners in the first version. Whoops!

Game now auto-quits if one player exits the game. (Thanks for helping me with this one, Sparckman!) (doesn't always work, unfortunately, but the spectator mode should help this be less of a problem (you can simply beat your opponent now while the opponent is gone))

You can no longer fall out-of-bounds (thanks for the find, Sparckman!)

I accidentally had the "compress the runtime" box checked. It is now unchecked.

Explosions remaining on-screen after they have exploded (thanks to pretty much everyone who's played it with me for finding it).

The game now runs when minimized and while resizing (to prevent the game from disconnecting you).

New weapon added! Proximity mine! Press the 1 key to drop a proximity mine that explodes on contact (it will detonate on contact with grenade explosions as well).

New feature! You can now watch games that other players are playing! If you join a game that 2 players have already joined, then the game will ask you if you want to watch in spectator mode.

TODO: Players can get stuck inside of each other (I might be able to fix it using the Move Safely 2 object). I might switch to the Platform Movement Object as well, but only time will tell.

Anyway, thanks for reading the patch notes! (Did you read them? No? Well, sir, I won't explain to you how to use the new weapon in any other part of this post, so too bad for you!) I hope you enjoy the new version of the game!

Also, the controls (for those of you who don't already know (again, I won't explain the controls for the new weapon (or even tell you what it is) outside of the patch notes (at least for this post), so that isn't included, but still)):

    Side arrow keys move.
    Shift jumps.
Hold control to set the strength of your grenade.
Let go of control to throw your grenade.

I think that's it. Oh, and, in case you didn't read the patch notes, I will tell you about a new feature: Spectator mode! If you join a game that already has two players, you can watch the game instead.

  • XStar has given me two new download links. If you didn't like the other two, then these two should be good:

EXE file: Please login to see this link.

MFA file: Please login to see this link.

My Please login to see this link. (which I actually use), my Please login to see this link. (which I mostly don't use), and my Please login to see this link. • Just as an FYI, I'm hosting the game with the ID 10127. If anybody wants to join, go ahead. I'll let you know as soon as someone has joined so you can watch in spectator mode (if you want).

EDIT: I'm closing the game, since nobody seems to be joining...

Edited once, last by happygreenfrog (October 3, 2013 at 12:06 AM).

  • Okay, so I've made an un-tested Android port. I've uploaded the source for it here, for anybody who's interested: Please login to see this link.
