Plans for Lacewing for HTML5 exporter?

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Lacewing is a great extension for Fusion, however a major selling point would be if Lacewing is available for the HTML5 exporter.

Is there currently any plans or development of HTML5 Lacewing extensions?

  • You'd have to talk to James about it, since he made the Lacewing objects.

My Please login to see this link. (which I actually use), my Please login to see this link. (which I mostly don't use), and my Please login to see this link. (which I don't use anymore pretty much at all really). If there are awards for "'highest number of long forum posts", then I'd have probably won at least 1 by now. XD

  • Thank you for the pointer happygreenfrog. Fingers crossed!

  • I PM'd James last month, but haven't received any response since. :(

  • Actually, I looked back at this thread and the Please login to see this link. if the extension will expand to these platforms, and discovered that the Lacewing Relay Client had been discontinued by James (but not liblacewing, the library behind it, which is still being updated) Phi revived this with a newer replacement called Please login to see this link. (less bugs, more features, Windows only)

The question still remains open if a client extension will be exported to other runtimes. :(

  • But the HTML5 exporter will support the Lacewing? I'm planning to buy this exporter, but I'm little afraid about it.

  • The broader issue is that web browsers don't support basic TCP socket connections, only a subset of HTTP sockets called "WebSockets", which require their own server setup.
This means that having a Lacewing client extension for HTML5 wouldn't be able to just connect to anything running a Lacewing server,
(that is unless the windows Lacewing extension gets updated to support WebSockets.)

I have already written a fairly basic WebSocket extension for those interested in utilizing them, link is somewhere around the html5 forums

Really named Ben Otter, but oh well, eh?

  • Thanks DracisLooby for sharing that, good job! I never imagined Lacewing would be ported to HTML5 anytime soon, but that's great there is an alternate to have an experiment with.
