Implementing the iOS joystick

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Hey Clickteam forums!

I was trying to build an iOS game using clickteam fusion 2.5 with the iOS exporter. For this game, I was trying to create a joystick. I noticed that clickteam fusion already has a virtual joystick & fire buttons for iOS and I tried using this, however, I can't seem to figure out how to make my character walk right when the joystick is pushed to the right and vice versa. I can't seem to get the fire buttons triggering projectiles fired either. However, I can make this happen with normal buttons or clicking on a normal active object.

Is there any specific things I have to do when using the iOS joystick? And how would I map an action or event to the joystick/fire buttons? PS: Is there a way to customize the look of the joystick?

Thanks, I'm an iOS developer with some fairly successful apps, but I've only programmed these using Xcode and objective C. Only recently found clickteam, but its very interesting so I decided to give it a shot!

  • Ah figured this one out by experimenting. After enabling the iOS joystick within the frame properties, I went to event editor, new condition, joystick, repeat while joystick is pressed. And for what happens once this event occurs, I clicked on the box for my object, chose movement, start, set speed. It worked perfectly! Pretty amazed with what you can do with the fusion 2.5 ios exporter

  • We will soon implement a much more useable joystick. For the moment it is rather hard to go right or left (or top or down), you keep on going in diagonals.
    This will be corrected.

  • Hi Francois,

Im a newbie to the built in joystick and managed to map left and right movement of my object to the Button 1 & 2. How do I incorporate Up & Down movement into the Joystick to get all four direction movement for testing on Xcode simulator in my Mac? Can 2 Buttons take 4 movements?

    Desperately,

    Ian
