Trouble with Ice Hockey Physics

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

  • I'm using the new physics movement for my hockey puck but am encountering two major problems:

    1. The puck works fine against flat surfaces but wont hit the curved boundaries of the ice rink. Instead, it collides with some non-existent barrier and bounces in a seemingly random direction.

    2. I have no idea how to make the puck swoosh around the curves like it would in real hockey. Instead, I'm getting an unrealistic bounce off.

    If anyone has the answers to these two problems I would be greatly appreciative. :)

  • Dylan, I could be wrong, but I don't think the physics work with complex background images, like curves, set as obstacles. You have to use simple background images like triangles to build the curves - or something like the Physics-Background object. I found this out when trying to make a pinball game. Was really disappointed with it.

  • Here is an air hockey game already done.
    Simply bouncing ball physics. The AI of computer player is a bit tricky but you can easily turn this into a multilayer.
    The events are a bit rough on the edges :D but it works perfect.
