How these games were made with MMF2? they are just amazing!

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Hi everyone

Can someone please tell me how the below games were made using MMF2 or 2.5? The particles, the flares, the effects ... they are just amazing :O

Were there any extra coding / tools / extensions used to build these games? I need to know, because most of the games I saw for MMF2/2.5 are simple platformer games with simple graphics.

    The games are:

Really Big Sky (Please login to see this link.)

Luor (Please login to see this link.)

Sky Invader (Please login to see this link.)

Lunnye Devitsy (Please login to see this link.)

Wake (Please login to see this link.)

I came to know these games from Please login to see this link. on Steam forum.

    Thanks in advance.

  • I would presonally say fusion is at least capable of theoretically making any game you can imagine, though perhaps not 3D based. This is assuming you have the time, inclination and resources to put into the development and the understanding of the limitations that fusion would have ,though that would be true of any DEV System. I would say the people above, though Really big sky is the only one I know personally, were simply motivated teams or persons and willing to make it happen.

  • Both Lunnye Devitsy and Wake were indeed made with MMF 1.5 a long while ago. They were released on The Daily Click by Dr. James.

I don't see why people would think those games aren't possible with Fusion.
MMF/CF supports alpha channels, so those soft edges and lens flare effects are easy enough.
For the slight blur around the edges of the frame use a shader.
Beyond that it's just a typical platformer with a custom movement engine.

I bought both of those games on release. I liked Wake, but the other one was kinda boring although pretty.

  • you can do all the effects without costum code/extensions.
i made this for example with 1 texture(sprite) Please login to see this attachment. and pinball-movement:

  • Thanks guys. I saw a Please login to see this link. on Youtube explaining how to make "Shockwave" effect using shaders. Now I can understand how those great effects made with MMF.

But what about particles (like sparkles in Wake game)? Is there a particle system engine in Fusion 2.5?

  • Click_n_Create, this site is safe, as my antivirus did not give any flags for it (and of course it's not a obviously cheap and suspicious site), it may just be a false positive.

    EDIT: I'm also alive again.

This guy made a load of advanced effects in fusion, you can download the mfas to see how he did them, but you have to pay.

They are indeed amazing. There are some effects like that flamethrower that show a lot of talent.
To be on topic, my opinion is that these people make games with very attention to detail (particles, angles, collision, sound effects)
that even when the engine isn't too complex, you can see a lot of things happening, a lot of dedication.
Some of us start projects with passion but then lose interest after some time.
These people are really passionate and don't rest until they finish their projects so we must all learn from this.
That's what separates them from the rest, IMO.

  • Thank you everyone for your contribution in this topic

For sure as much time and effort you give your project that will pay back in an excellent finished product.

But my question was: is it easy and straight forward in Fusion to make these particle effects? Or it needs advanced knowledge and talent and multiple third party software?

Because as you know, Clickteam Fusion indeed has so many features that makes tedious / difficult tasks to be a walk in the park, but is this the case when comes to particles?

  • What about this one:

    Escape From Earth
    Author: nivram
    Genre: Adventure
    Extensions Needed: none
    Description:
The excitment mounts in this adventure. Nivram has raised his face-plate to reveal his identity. Now he must escape from earth to prevent more brain leakage.

    Define "easy". :)
They surely can be done in MMF2 or CF25 but there's a lot of dedication involved and knowing the limitations of the software plays a big part (like posted before in this thread). But to answer your question: no, it's not straightforward and those professional features we see in those games are not built-in. Most of them are just visually beautiful enough to overcome other engine flaws or game difficulty issues (and overall flow). IMO, if you have a great graphics and level designer, know your way around HWA and what you can do with it in terms of particles and eye-candiness, you'll be able to accomplish amazing things.
