Lacewing client, white screen in Flash

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Hi

I'm taking my first steps in networking, and my flash file does not even start with lacewing.

I'm using Flash "cf25swfexpsetup.280.33.140111.exe" with the latest Fusion 2.5 Dev. I have the latest Lacewing Relay Client object from the extension-manager.
When I build an swf with the lacewing client, the window only show a white screen local and on web. If I uncheck "create at start" the flash runs as usual. If I create the lacewing object after starting it stops responding.

I'm not connecting or anything, just trying to start the swf. I tried firefox, chrome and explorer and I spent maybe two hours reading on forums and testing stuff.

    Is there a quick fix?

  • Ok so I tested a few versions and it finally runs in MMF2 (for me), jolly good.

    [Lacewing build #20]

    MMF2.5 (281.2)
    SWF exporter
Build 280.33 = not starting with lacewing
Build 280.32 = not starting with lacewing
Build 280.28 = not starting with lacewing

    MMF2 (258.0)
    SWF exporter
Build 258.0 = starting with lacewing
Build 257.12 = starting with lacewing

if someone knows how to make it run in MMF2.5, that would be swell to hear.

    cheers,
    tompa

  • Really wish we could get an update on this, i manually went through some of the source code etc to see if i could spot anything, but the code looks very much the same exported from mmf2 and f2.5, there are a couple .swf files in the resources/ folder when exported from mmf2, but i wouldn't think they have anything to do with lacewing, and i haven't figured out how to manually compile this yet anyway, so i couldn't test.

  • I'm interested in a fix for this as well. I'm also having the problem on a project I finished, and unfortunately I don't have MMF2 installed anymore, so I can't try that route.

Oh CRAP I have work I need to be doing, bye!

Fixed version, remove Lacewing.dat from the flash folder and put this in there instead.
The issue was that F2.5 flash defaults to unicode when reading strings.

  • Does it require some really modern version of Flash to work (such as one that CF2.5 returns an error when trying to build to)? Since it doesn't seem to work. It no longer has a white screen issue, yes, but now it doesn't even seem to recognize the "connect" action...

My Please login to see this link. (which I actually use), my Please login to see this link. (which I mostly don't use), and my Please login to see this link. (which I don't use anymore pretty much at all really). If there are awards for "'highest number of long forum posts", then I'd have probably won at least 1 by now. XD

  • Sarcasm aside, I am using the version that the F2.5 updater gives me, 284.10.
What do you mean with that it does not recognize the "connect" action? Do you have an example mfa I can use for testing? :)

(I have not tested the actions/conditions/expressions, I only fixed the first issue, of it not showing up)

  • Update:
I went a head and tested it a bit, works fine, connect and set name :)

p.s. if you guys like this, feel free to throw money at me, even thought it wasn't a big job :)

  • Hold on, let me try again...

If it still doesn't work for me, then I'll maybe upload the example...

Tomorrow, cuz it's past midnight here. XD

  • Wow! finally some action! :D If i get my main project(s) working with this i'll donate.

edit: No luck so far, crossdomain.xml file should be in order on the same domain i am connecting to, but nothing happens.

In addition to my own server i also tried both publich servers at Please login to see this link.

What am i missing? Any suggestions?

    Here is my test file:
Please login to see this attachment.

just press "go", nevermind the "update" button, it's used for a custom feature on my own server (time sync), send me a private message if you want to test with it.

    I put Lacewing.zip into \Data\Runtime\Flash and renamed Lacewing.dat to Lacewing.dat.old.

  • Well, since I don't seem to be the only person to have issues with it, and since they uploaded an example, maybe I don't have to upload an example after all. :)

  • I made a simple test server using the lacewing server extension: Please login to see this link.
It runs on port 6001, and works fine with your example for me.

Also started the old good aquadasoft/ledev/villy server up and I can connect fine to it, villy.net:6121 if anyone wants to test, I will leave it running for a few days.

  • Ah, that would explain it. XD

Now I'm wondering why SoftWarewolf's own server, which does supposedly have that set up, isn't working.
