Scrolling following a specific active

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Hey guys so im making a side scrolling game and i want the camera to follow a specific active. Whats happening right now is the active dissapears off the top and then come back down as gravity takes effect, but i want to keep the active centered in the frame, so i wont be able to see the ground at some points.
    Thanks
    Taylor

  • Hi tjmhoops,

To do what you require add the following in the event editor:

    Condition:
Please login to see this picture.

Click on the object you would like the camera to follow and press OK:
Please login to see this picture.

Run your application, the camera should now follow the object you selected

    Thanks
    John

Edited once, last by BaconUk: images didn't work as images so changed to links (April 25, 2014 at 1:27 PM).

  • At a guess I'd say your frame area is too small therefore the camera has nowhere to scroll.

In this example here I've doubled the frame area from 640x480 to 1280x960, you can do this next to icon of a monitor:
Please login to see this picture.

In the frame editor see all the extra white space? The dotted lines are your viewpoint, the remaining white space is where your camera can scroll to
Please login to see this picture.

    Hope that makes sense!

    Cheers
    John
