Ive had this problem going on 2 years now. A game that ive spent so much time on and put so much stock into, I can never get off of the ground because of a recurring "out of memory: error message that pings up every time I attempt to build it. I ive tried everything I can think of and have recently purchased a new computer in the hopes that it would accomplish what my 5 year old decaying laptop couldn't but to no avail whenever I tried to build It popped up yet again. As of recently I can not even come to run my entire game anymore because of the same message popping up. Afterwards If trying to switch frames the message comes about again and instead of displaying whats in the game, the previous frame gets "stuck" on the screen and gets garbled around it if I attempt to scroll anywhere. Im so lost and I don't know what to do. Im so close to finishing this very important game to me but all I need is for this problem to go away but nothing ever works, Ive posted this similar question on this forum a few times over the last few years but I honestly don't know what to do. Im trying not to lose hope on this very sentimental project of mine. All help would be very much appreciated. Anybody who can provide insight or just advice on this problem or if anyone else besides me(So far as far as I can tell, im the only one ever to meet this issue) has ever experienced it, that would make my day.
Please Help. Im so desperate and I dont know what to do
A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.
Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

What type of compression do you have under the BUILD OPTIONS and are you compressing the runtime in the Windows settings? Try playing around with those.
Can you compile other .mfa's? Or is it just this one?
Are your sound effects in .wav, .ogg, etc. and what is the filesize of your .mfa?
Do you have a lot of binary data added? -
Ive played around with them before to no avail (Though not on this comp. I doubt itd make much of a difference) Compression is set to maximum. Yes I can compile other MFA's no problem though most are not nearly as large as this one at 203,676 KB. Nearly all sound effect files are .wav and music is all MIDI. And no binary data whatsoever.

I would strongly recommend converting all your .wav files into .ogg files, then use the Data Elements manager to simply swap out the old SFX for the new one.
Backup your work of course - in case of unexpected results, but I've done this numerous times to decrease file size.
It simply swaps the old file for the new one and applies it globally, so it is super helpful.
Try that, then try to build and compare file size. You can even get free batch converters to load all your sfx in and convert all at once into .ogg.
I recommend...
Please login to see this link.Just be sure to tell it to not install the toolbars and such...but it is a great piece of freeware.
Hopefully this will be a solution to your problem! Also, curious, what version of MMF/Fusion 2.5 are you running?

Build 281.2
-
Hmm, the only thing I can think of without looking at the .mfa is maybe the .wav file size is burdening the build?
Give that a whirl. If you don't have the sfx anymore (since it's a long term project) just extract the files and then batch convert. Then replace and build.

I agree with the suggestion of compressing all your .wav files to .ogg.
I am also working on a large file, and started having problems. I posted this in May, and have not had problems since:In, MMF, Go to View menu...Toolbars...Customize...Menu...
And click the Reset button. Can also click a few other Resets in this Customize window-- Options, Toolbars...I've been working on a large file, and started having all sorts of UI performance issues, and this cleared it right up!

Can you tell me what the total size of your mfa file is, and the total size of all of your images and sounds and other assets is too please.

My .mfa is a little over 700mb in fusion 2.5 and everything works very well!
I'm using only .ogg and not .wav files, so maybe there is something. Also check your extensions, maybe one of them is not supported and that somehow affects. -
One other suggestion would be open a new window and copying one frame at a time and trying to build. If there are frames that do build and frames that dont it will help you isolate the problem.
-
In comparison to your games my game is a paltry 198MB.

looks like MF 2.5 is running out of memory.. Seems like there is a 1Gb memory limit in Fusion for some reason..
When I keep opening frames, it keeps adding memory until It reaches 1.24 Gb then I get "Out of Memory" error.
My system has 24 Gb of Ram, so that's not the issue hereBack in the days 1 Gb was a LOT... now these days it's a minimum...

So far nothing in the Bug Tracker has been done. Is there no way to surpass the limit Perry mentioned or is there a workaround?

You were going to give me a copy of your files to look at but I've not had a link from you yet... don't forget to send it to me
