Using the Physics - 8 directions movement for a top-down adventure game

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Does anybody know how to adjust the Physics - 8 directions-movement so that it feels kind of like the original 8 directions-movement? I'm doing a Zelda-style adventure game from a top-down perspective and I want to use the Physics movement so that the main character can be affected by fans, conveyor belts, and such. But no matter how I adjust the movement settings, controlling him still feels like driving a go-cart on a skating rink, rather than walking around on solid ground.

  • Try increasing the rotation speed. It should both be close to the maximum limit and then it should be identical to the original movement. :)

Edit: I think this broke recently. Francois, the rotation isn't instant when the rotation speed is set to 100 (the maximum value). This used to work, didn't it?

  • Ah, I see. It's the deceleration value that isn't working, not the rotation speed.

Here, you can see the difference between the two movements. Is the physics one designed not to deprecate the original eight directions movement? I thought it could match it but the closest we can get is ice skating movement. :D
