Some useful hidden shortcuts

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

    - Windows Properties: press SHIFT+CTRL when you edit the install settings to reset those settings to their original value.

Note: we'll try to add some of those shortcuts as visible options in future builds as it's not always easy to remember.

  • Another cool thing would be if it was possible to assign shortcuts to folders in the event editor to the 1-9 keys. So you could have 3 folders, each assigned to a number 1-2-3. Then if you press 1 the folder assigned to 1 moves to the left and opens and the other 2 folders close. If you press 3, that folders move to the leftmost position and open and the other closes. That way it would be fast to work on different things and have them easy available without having to scroll a lot and redo the order depending on what you are working on.

  • Hello Yves, thank you for the tip.

Just to ask, it's possible to add in frame editor a shortcut SHIFT+ARROWS to move the object faster (like in almost softwares). In fusion, if you do it, you will distort the object (active for example), but the correct its to move the object more faster. This will be a handwheel when you want to make a few move on specific object.

    Thanks

  • I was thinking about the event editor and how it usually involves a lot of scrolling up and down to code. Losing your place is very easy, even with the use of groups and color coded comments.

I would like to suggest a bookmark function whereby you can bookmark a line (similar to inserting a comment, but only 1 allowed in each frame). Then jump back to that line by pressing control-B.

At the moment coding involves a lot of remembering line numbers, which can be difficult when dealing with calculations that fill your head with different numbers.

  • Ryan: That is a great idea! Would be super useful. Even better would be if you could assign lines to a number so in this case if you press control+B-(number) you can bookmark a line, then later if you just press B + (number) you can go to that line, so you could bookmark 10 different lines with this and very quickly jump back and forth where you are working. Would save so much time! Have you made a ticket about this in the bugbox? If not I could do it for you.

Personally I often get extremely many objects in my games so I would also love a way to bookmark on the horizontal axis to easely jump to an object I am working on in the event editor, or a folder. That is where I spend the most time, scrolling back and forth, looking for the right object. It could be the same exact logic but just with another button like N for example.

Another suggestion I would really love is being able to mark objects you are currently working on. What I usually do now when working on some objects (For example the hero, his healthbar, a ground tile with a spike and a score object) is that I move them all all the way to the left of the event editor to have easy access to all of them without having to scroll back and forth while i make the events for them and also so they are easy to find when picking an object in the actions, this mess up any order with folders etc though I have for the objects and stuff gets very messy in time. It would be great if you could mark some objects by a button + mouse click command and have these objects move all the way to the left and then when you are done with them you can unmark them again and they will jump back to their original place and folder, then you can mark the objects you are going to work on next etc.

The numbering system would more flexibility, I didn't detail this in bugbox but feel free to elaborate.

  • "I do CTRL+A then right click+close groups to close them all. It's not a quick key shortcut but it's fairly quick!"

I also can't get Ctrl+A t work anywhere but the frame editor. But having a way to open close ALL groups would be insanely useful. Especially since the Search commands only work on open groups. :(

  • - Picture editor: SHIFT + Crop => crops all the images of the current direction
    - Picture editor: SHIFT + CTRL + Crop => crops all the images of all the directions of the current animation
    - Picture editor: SHIFT + CTRL + ALT + Crop => crops all the images of all the directions of all the animations

These don't seem to work for me which is a shame because it would save A LOT of time.

Otherwise neat information, too bad it took so much time for you to tell us. It would be so much better if all these tips were actually documented in the help file in the first place.

You don't have to select them all. Click on one group (either open or closed - any group will do) to highlight it and right click for the option to collapse/expand all groups.

  • Holy crap! You're right. I just didn't realize you needed to select the group first. It would be nice to have that option on a simple right click on the group, but I'll try not to look a gift horse in the mouth. Thanks for the explanation.
