Clicktore and Google Wallet

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

Clickteam.
  • I went to buy one of the extensions that was posted on the clicktore, but the only option to pay is with google wallet. I have zero interest in google having any more of my information than they already have.

I was looking forward to buying multiple things at the clickstore, but it looks like that's not going to be an option. The part that confuses me is that I have purchased all of the clickteam software by just using my credit card.

I love the click store idea and want to support the vendors, but you guys have to open up the payment options.

Too bad though, I have the day off and was looking forward to trying some things out.

  • I agree they need to have more options, but i don't see what the big deal is about using Google Wallet, you do realize that Google is not the only one collecting your information and using it for data mining? Whatever outlet you choose to use, they're still potentially collecting/selling that information.

  • In honesty, there are few payment processors who make both micro and normal transaction fees affordable, which is key to the viability of the ClickStore. Using PayPal for example, a $0.99 transaction would cost $0.32 or 33% of the transaction to process, even more if it's paid in a non-dollar amount. This is about average for the big providers like Amazon Payments too.

Google Wallet by comparison charges just $0.05 in processing fees for the exact same transaction, so I'm sure you can appreciate why without this, the store would not be sustainable.

  • My customers have demanded other payment options too, different people have different opinions of payment vendors. If it comes down to cost I suggest passing on the increase to the consumer, ie. $1.00 (Google Wallet), $1.30 (paypal). Let the consumer make the choice.

  • I see your point Simon, but i agree with Ryan. I might not be happy with paypal about charging me more, but that would be an issue I'd have with paypal. Beyond that, Paying an extra $.50 cents on a dollar item or a $20 item would not impact the decision to make a purchase for most people who are in the position to make purchases.

Macca, I understand your position as well. However, Google is becoming a mega-monoply for too many aspects of the internet. If we are not careful, Google will own the internet and everyone will have to do business with them. Everyone always came down on Microsoft, but at least Microsoft stayed in its own lane. Google is buying up everything and on top of that their privacy policy is "We're Google and we do what we want to do, deal with it."

  • If I remember correctly, the problem with the ClickStore using Paypal as an option is that they don't let you charge more than other payment options, meaning it isn't a valid option unless they charge more for all payment methods, which is just ridiculous.

My Please login to see this link. (which I actually use), my Please login to see this link. (which I mostly don't use), and my Please login to see this link. (which I don't use anymore pretty much at all really). If there are awards for "'highest number of long forum posts", then I'd have probably won at least 1 by now. XD

  • Google Wallet for digital goods (micropayments) is closing down in March 2015
After xmas we will be switching to a new payment processor for Clickstore.

We already are working on accepting Amazon payments in it and will look into other micropayment providers.

HappyGreenFrog is 100% correct - We can not charge more for paypal then other payment options.
So if we used Paypal we would have to raise prices wholesale and adjust the authors percentages to cover the increase transactions cost.

  • Wow,

Sounds like PayPal is a bit full of itself.

Just throwing out one last thought.

Have you considered people just buying a credit balance or clickteam points and they can grab whatever they want for their points? You would just handle payments to the software producers. Might be an administrative nightmare, or could be quite simple. It would be a way around making $1 charges while keeping the prices low and processing fees to a minimum.

  • PayPal are not the only company who ban you via T&C from charging surcharges to pay via their service, this is quite common.

If we were to allow credit purchase, the same problem would still exist regarding PayPal etc. as the fees are still largely applicable, and surcharges forbidden.

Amazon Payments is in the works as Jeff says, although in my experience many people who have issues with PayPal or Google often have those same issues using Amazon Payments.

  • I look forward to whatever new payment options emerge. I really wanted to try out the raycaster so i was going to breakdown and get google wallet. But by the time I got through reading their terms of service, I was completely done with them. These guys are discussing your credit rating with vendors you purchase from? Just can't birng myslef to do it. But I appreciate Clickteam's willingness to hear the concern and their efforts to find multple payment vendors.
